FOV?
Is there any way to change the FOV? This game is giving me a headache when I play it.

FoV is not an option

Third party software? But I know what you mean, playing as an alien destroys my brain.
Oh, that's a shame. Why don't people take into consideration us PC players? Thanks for your replies.

PC gamers lost when people found out about the lazy comfort of couches.
Yeah, but nothing beats a good old leather office chair.

Try turning off motion blur, or take the Alien campaign in small doses.

indeed idiotic dev choice and lazy port, thats what it is. how they f#cked it up is beyond my imagination. turning off motion blur doesnt help at all. hard coding idiotic fov is an easy way to screw up any game. Im starting to play and lose my orientation easily on this small maze that leads to gas canister in the very first room only by making quick turns in small spaces. I would love to appreciate this game fully but I cant as it hurts my eyes. f#ck lazy console ports and their 'narrow minded' devs.

I agree. With low field of view in games I also struggle to find my orientation. It makes me fee lost. It is weird. I still don't see the harm/difficulty in putting a FOV slider in. It is very easy to do. Especially when it causes headaches, and sickness, which often happens to me.

Oh that's just great...

:::Uninstalls AvP::: :sbangry:

Way to ruin the game with one simple setting; hardcoding an FOV fit for an Xbox jackass! First time I recall not being able to somehow increase the FOV in a first-person shooter! There was always a way, even if it required a mod. Not this time! This makes me sick even more than the field of view. I oughtta put Rebellion on my boycott list along with EA and Xbox. Son of a ....

You just said what the problem is.
AvP 2010 is a poor console port. You would have known that if you googled before buying it.

They just ported it to PC and added some minor graphic options which weren't part of the Xbox version but nothing more.
I got used to the FOV after playing a while but if you absolutely cannot stand that you probably won't like this game.

only way to make it playable is to use some sort of custom resolution, like 2560x1080 where visible area widens but vertical fov remains the same. IF game supports it correctly of course, without stretching the 16:9 screen horizontally to fit this custom resolution screen aspect ratio like some games do. didnt try that here though so im not sure of it will work.

I'm not angry that I spent $5 on this game, I'm angry that they ruined it and have the balls to put a game on PC with a hardcoded field of view of 65. I've never had to google if I can change an FOV in a first-person shooter before buying it, console port or not. So that excuse doesn't fly. I have yet to run into an FPS game where I couldn't increase the FOV. I'm sure a few more exist but they probably aren't good games, so it's irrelevant. There is always some console command or mod to fix things like this. That's why I did not google it. Either way, I probably would have bought it anyway.

I personally cannot get use to an FOV of 65 because I have a 47 inch Sony monitor. Maybe if I had a small monitor but big screens need big FOVs for most people, otherwise you get a headache or worse.

EDIT: Oh, there is one other game I couldn't change the FOV. Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter. You can change it in single player... but multiplayer you cannot so that portion of the game was unplayable, for me anyway. It doesn't matter too much, since they fixed that for the Second Encounter and there is also Serious Sam Classics: Revolution, where you can change the FOV in multiplayer.

I believe some games don't allow the change of FOV in the multiplayer mode because of the benefit you get for having a higher FOV. I think one of the CoD games or Crysis games had this. I may be wrong. But that reason is not worth the headaches some people, like me, recieve when playing these games.

A bit of an overreaction I sense here about the lack of FOV changing.
Bastard Albatross Aug 23, 2014 @ 2:30pm
It causes a lot of problems. Only If, a game without an FOV option caused be to almost vomit after 15 minutes of playing. It is a free game, and was quite interesting, but the lack of FOV has made me not able to go back to it. FOV options are very important for people like me.
