try to reinstall directx
BodomBoi Aug 22, 2015 @ 5:29am
I just tried the different directx startups. Directx 9 seems to be more stable, had no tears in graphics. 11 still has tears but not as significant as normal startup. strange how it works but it does so at least i can still play.

Havent tried reinstalling directx yet but might try it some time

uninstall all old graphic drives reinstall the new ones do a system reg clean ccleaner works for 10 free to download

Play around with the video settings in the main menu under Directx11 Enhanced Features

Main menu -------options---------video

Texture Quality ----------- high

Resolution -------------- 1680 x 1050

Shadow Complexity -------------- high

Antisotropic Filtering ------------- 15 x

Ambient occlusion --------------- on

Motion blur ---------------- off

v--- sync ------------------ on

Windows 10 will upgrade your direct x 11 to the newest direct x 12 via auto upgrading

The settings above should get you back to playing again

:steamhappy: see you in battle dude
Windows 10 is giving me issues as well. I freeze up with a black screen, and the only way to stop it is to unplug the monitor it is plugged into. Alt+Tab doesnt work, CTRL+ALT+DEL did not work, Alt + F4 didnt work. It blacked out my main monitor and would not go away until I unplugged it and manually shut AvP down through Task Killer.

Oh, and this is a fresh install of 10 with all brand new updated drivers. So I know it is not a driver or registry issue.

Try a fresh insall of the game make sure you have no background programs running when you reinstall

After you have done a fresh reinstall go to your steam libary right click on the game click properties then click local files and click on the ....verify integrity of game cache let this run then exit steam shutdown your pc reboot and open steam play the game

If you are attempting to update drivers make sure you first uninstall the old drivers as these can conflict and cause black screen also antivirus can also cause this problem with no error message

Even if you have freshed installed windows 10 from your old os windows still keep some of your files in a file called windows old so your old graphics drives will be there so can still conflict with new drives you install

Look for the file windows old or explore your c drive for it then explore windows old and delete any old gpu drives before you install newer ones

set your graphics to the settings i posted for Bodomboi a few posts ago ..... good luck

when I say fresh install, I mean fully formatted drives and a clean install.
