For anyone who is having trouble with “updating executable.”
There is a problem with Steam DRM (anti-piracy utility), I can see it from steam logs: LaunchApp failed with UpdatingDRM with "16".

I recovered the old executables from an “old installation” of mine. Here's a link to my drive with the working ones. Tested on multiple PCs they seem to work (I haven't tried with the Direct X versions). You can launch as always using steam.

[OLD LINK - REMOVED]

EDIT: the guys in the comments are right to show doubt. Downloading these executables is obviously at your own risk, just as I took the risk of trying them.

EDIT 2: I just tried removing the 3 files of the zip from the installation folder and running the integrity check with steam that downloaded the correct ones and NOW IT WORKS! If you still have the problem try to remove these 3 specific files (AvP.exe, AvP_DX11.exe, AvP_Launcher.exe) and run the integrity check. If that doesn't work, I'll leave the new link to my drive with those executables that work in my case (and now are totally legit, cause steam downloaded all of them).

I wouldn't recommend anyone open the link or download any software, the chances of this being malicious are pretty low considering how little people are going to see this, but don't let yourself be the victim

You guys are right in not wanting to download random stuff from strangers' links, I won't force you to do that. As I specified, I indicated that these files are from an “old installation,” if you know what I mean. I have used them in the past at my own risk and fortunately there were no problems. I was able to retrieve them and they seem to fix the problem now, I tried them on two separate computers and played on LAN as I wanted to. Obviously this is not a solution, if Steam solves the problem I will launch the integrity check to restore the correct files (I have also written to support but I doubt I will get a reply). So yes, if you decide to download it is at your own risk, obviously on my part there are no ill intentions.

Give me more details. Maybe I can help you! Did you copied all files without perform the integrity check? Did you choose to launch the version without using direct x?

EDIT:
I see that a guy who writes in spanish is sharing more files and suggests starting the launcher manually from the folder the first time. You can try it also with our files and give me feedback if you want.

And you do well. However, not unless you know a friend who has the working version of these executables (another post also suggested this). I don't know anyone with the game installed unfortunately, so I helped myself with this dirty solution.

went ahead and even modded it to now have the praetorian model instead of six. HOWEVER. there is an issue, during the tutorial where u attack the human, on the fourth hit is where the game basically crashes. and no it isnt cause of the mod, was there before.
