Game crashing when pressing E to grab

Every time, after completing the first alien mission, the game crashes as soon as I press E to grab a marine. I have no idea why it didn't crash in the first mission, but now I'm not really able to continue playing due to this.

Does anyone have any advice or potential fixes for this problem?

minor update: i discovered that just killing anyone AT ALL seems to crash the game. i'm utterly bewildered.

update: i replaced the exes with some "fixed" ones from a third party website someone recommended, and now i'm able to kill people without the game crashing!

new problem: i'm not able to take any damage without, believe it or not, the game crashing.

i am at my wits end with this game

I can't get this game to run either, anytime you start up the marine campaign and have to open the first door, the game just crashes

Just wait a few days and it will fix itself. :)

I noticed this started happening to me after the Windows 11 24H2 update, along with other issues. I did a roll back on the update and the game's working for me again. It could be a coincidence, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

No, its come with steam updates. Does matter os.

normally the game crashing when you kill someone can be resolved by verifying the game files.

issue with this is that to even play the game in the first place i had to download someone else's game EXEs, which i'm assuming would be replaced with the default ones if i verify game files. then i'm back at square one with the game not even loading anymore

please correct me if i'm wrong!

You must verified files, launch steam and game with admin permission. If dx9 not load - try dx11. And when get that error - if launching not crash - just wait. Can be more then 10 minutes loading game, but it will load. All next launches will be normal, game will work properly.

yeah idk what's wrong but i've tried all this several times, the game just doesn't launch at all when using the normal verified files. like, it instantly crashes no matter what.
