AvP 1999 version
I played an AvP game when my first son was little, which looks like it was the 1999 version. It may have been AvP 2. Same sort of deal, where you play through 3 campaigns, with a glorious moment where you play as a chestburster chomping its way out of its victim.

The three plotlines wove together to tell a story. People posted online the order to play the episodes in if you wanted to see the story chronologically. Great fun!

But I can't find that version anywhere. I was hoping there was a version on Steam.

So I have a question -- is this game more or less the same as the previous one? Play as all three creatures (human, alien, predator), with all campaigns telling the same story from different points of view?

The game you played was AVP2 by Monolith, this on Steam is the Rebellion AVP1 game.

To get AVP2 you will need to find a physical copy eg ebay etc etc as due to rights/licensing issues AVP2 never got a modern digital online release.

This AVP1 is similar but the big difference is that there is no story link and the levels are more basic regarding story.

For me as well the highlight of AVP2 was that chester burster scene - so well done for its time.
And I say that as someone who prefers AVP1.

Thats AVP2. Good story and newer engine but the gameplay was really not the sameas AVP1. I prefer AVP1 because of the level design and gameplay. AVP2 levels lack verticality.
