The game you played was AVP2 by Monolith, this on Steam is the Rebellion AVP1 game.
To get AVP2 you will need to find a physical copy eg ebay etc etc as due to rights/licensing issues AVP2 never got a modern digital online release.
This AVP1 is similar but the big difference is that there is no story link and the levels are more basic regarding story.
For me as well the highlight of AVP2 was that chester burster scene - so well done for its time.
And I say that as someone who prefers AVP1.
