Yup. And without the DLC, not only do you not get a mount, but you won't be able to level from 60-65. Your character is basically unable to hit max level and max gear score. You will be permanently undergeared at the previous max level of 60 unless you buy the DLC. They pretty much "force" you to buy this DLC if you want to keep up with everyone.

Good to know and guess this is farewell to this game then cause that just rubs me off the wrong way. It's a MMO and you add in mounts but, lock them behind a DLC is wild. Like I am in lvl 40 areas and stuck seeing so many ppl galloping on mounts and I just gotta still walk like this is New World at launch.

Game is fully playable without mounts as everyone did before the mounts came out, and gear score is adjusted in pvp events.

that's standard for mmos, increased level cap, previous base/expansion gear becomes obsolete with new expansion

the other mmos also charge a monthly subscription

I can't think of a single MMO that requires DLC to allow access to max level. Even games like WoW allow access to max level without the current Expansion.

without buying dragonflight, you can't reach level 70

i've been playing wow since 2004 and i had to buy every new expansion to get access to the new level cap and content

that's a total of nine expansions with the tenth one coming this year

Level cap is one thing I played a lot of other MMO's I understand w/ each new big expansion the level cap increases w/ purchase however I am mainly speaking that they lock mounts behind the expansion. You can't name me 1 other MMO that has or does that. That is what really erks me. Its terrible design decision to do that and not only is it a huge slap in the face to pre-launch supporters but, to anyone who buys this game. Like I said this is the straw that broke the camels back for me. Since playtest we been asking for mounts and put up with so much bad choices or lack of actual content that when they finally drop what was supposed to be a free expansion and charge it full price w/ mounts locked behind it is just utter BS.

And look at WoW currently a MMO in full shambles and loss of identity. Also that was very early in MMO's so you could make the excuse of there wasn't too much knowledge on what is good or bad in design decisions. However this isn't first expansion WoW many decades ago this is current year 2024 and they are doing this. If you want to defend that go ahead IDC but, don't try to sell to me that I am over reacting. Steam player count speaks for itself as it always has since launch. Trajectory for this MMO is in shambles and will continue because it is very clear the studio of devs is smoking a pipe dream and just spews promises yet breaks them when its time.

No it's not because of one thing my point in what I said is that those WoW devs have continuously made repeat bad decisions while remaining oblivious as if nothing really is that bad. It screams the same exact vibes the New World devs have. One bad decision leads to another then another to eventually you made so many bad design decisions that you not only lose player count but, current players also slowly dropping. WoW has done that and New World is next on the list.
