Raid gear becoming obsolete in the next patch, being replaced by quest gear.
Nerfing weapons and abilities every couple of months with little to no announcements.
So basically just like every other mmo on the market.
It's not like every other MMO on the market. When ESO does a META change, a player only has to spend a max 30 hours to get back to competitive PvP status. When GW2 has a META change which normally don't happen that often. A player will at most just spend 10 hours to update their gear to be competitive in PvP. BDO does not completely change META every 3 months. Because like New World it take a lot of time and or money to do so. In FFXIV getting the gear for the next raid tier will only cost you like 50 hours of gameplay. Meanwhile to competitive PvP status in New World after a META shift will cost a player a minimal of 150 hours, or $500 buying gold from illegal 3rd party RMT vendors. The illegal 3rd party RMT vendors are most of the defenders of all of the cons to play New World.
Also the top 5 most popular MMOs on the market actively punishes the cheaters of their games.
So, for sure not like like every other MMO on the market.
Correction *Basically like every other MMO*
Starwars galaxies had the New Game Enhancements NGE, if you played during that time, well you just know.
World of warcraft replaces your raid gear every update with green quest gear.
In Final Fantasy XI, in order to get a legendary weapon, players would have to invest on average 3,000 hours, only for that item to be made obsolete in later updates.
In Final Fantasy XI, they don't even ban gold sellers anymore, there is constant spam in game for buying materials to make the legendary items, instead of spending 3,000 hours, it will only take 200 hours. You can get your base legendary weapon for $500, fully upgrade it for $1,000 extra.
Dont remind me of the NGE. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Sony I LOVED THAT STUPID GAME and they raped and murdered it
3,000 hours is true, back in 2004 when Dynamis was first introduced, it took that long to complete the weapon assuming you had a good guild to do the runs, also random number generation on the drops. Later expansions saw that time drop down and today you can get it done in around 30 hours assuming you are knowledgeable with the game.
Keep in mind that in 2007-08 there was a boss that took the best raid team in the world 18 hours to get the boss to 30% health before they gave up. Final Fantasy XI was a brutal game. https://www.destructoid.com/final-fantasy-xi-boss-causes-vomiting-takes-18-hours-to-beat/
Oh I also did not mention the Absolute Virtue boss that came before. There were several raid teams who managed to use an exploit by getting the boss stuck in a wall while they hit it with magic spells. It took 18 people (max raid group) 30 hours to kill using this method. People would go sleep in shifts to accomplish this task. In the end, the developer banned those involved. The developer later released a very cryptic video explaining how to do the fight. People believed that the developers used Game Master abilities to win.
For years nobody could kill the boss without exploits. Eventually the developers explained in detail how it was done. Use your Job ability (an ability that was on a 2-hour recast timer) just before the boss uses theirs. Except at the time everyone was playing on dial-up or DSL internet, so you had to be really close to the data center to taken on the battle. The window to achieve this was very small and that boss could use the healer 2-hour which full healed the boss if you failed to counter.
were you including those games you listed as the top 5? pretty sure you listed legit P2W, no limit, trash in that list ...so im gonna have to say irrelevant.
