PVP and why it will always die in most games.
Game developers can't achieve perfection in PvP because its success or failure primarily depends on the community. The issue lies in how the player base behaves. The best players tend to dominate mid-level players, and mid-level players, in turn, dominate the newcomers. This creates a discouraging cycle, with newcomers losing interest in improving, mid-level players regressing to newcomers, and top players lamenting the death of PvP.

The solution, unfortunately, is not to engage in PvP with just anyone, anywhere; instead, it's about encouraging duels and respectful interactions. In high-risk, high-reward content unlike Outpost Rush (OPR), races, and forts, PvP is expected in these instances. However, when someone is simply going about their business, like completing a daily faction mission along a road, killing them doesn't make sense. It only deters them from flagging for PvP, making it feel more like a chore. In essence, as strange as it may sound, showing respect in PvP can attract more participants and raise the overall skill level.

Similar examples can be found in games like Dota and League of Legends. Over the years, the average player's skill has significantly improved. However, these games don't have extensive PvE aspects like MMOs, which shifts the responsibility of teaching new players onto the community. Instead of exploiting or overpowering those who can't compete, fostering a fair, balanced, and respectful PvP environment is essential. Unfortunately, many PvP enthusiasts prefer an easy win, targeting players wearing farming gear, which perpetuates the cycle of PvP content becoming stale after a short period.

mobas or pvp lobbygames in general have mmr systems and give you freewins on a lose streak so you dont ragequit permanently. Their solution is not transferable to open world pvp.

NW open world pvp issue is all zones have equal use for farmers which means best and worst mingle. You need tiers in map quality so risk&reward are regionally different which causes players to divide like a mmr system. Not even a novel idea as eve online released with this 20 years ago already.

It is because most players lack any sort of sportsmanship.

tl;dr git gud orf just play single player games.

I dont play a pvp game with people who've been playing a lot and expect to win right off the bat. IMAGINE PLAYING A NEW SPORT AND GETTING MAD THAT PEOPLE WHO DEDICATED THEIR TIME TO GET BETTER ARE BETTER. People just want to be handheld and not learn.

Couldn’t agree more. Unfortunately the quality of a pvp game is determined by the pvp players.
