Game keeps updating the full file size (Roughly 80 gigs)
There have been 3 updates in the past week or two. Yesterday or today, there was like a 7 gig one. Every single update has triggered my game to re download the full 80 gigs that the game takes. Is this happening to anyone else? I've had this happen to other games before with one update, but usually the update fixes it before it ever happens again. This is 3 times now, though.

Getting pretty sick of fully redownloading it. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall (ironically)? Is something wrong with whatever patcher is updating the original files?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Are you sure it's re-downloading? For example the latest patch for me was 7.5 gigs, so it would show as x/7.5GB followed by another set of numbers after the download was complete saying x/81.8GB, that set of numbers is just how far along it is in patching the game, it's not downloading anything.

one of these days people are going to understand you are not redownloading the 80 gigs it is patching it. the download was (today 10/12ish) was 20+ gigs then patched the game install which is 80ish gigs. steam has been showing this for a few years now. kinda wish they would go back to not showing the patching size cause it confuses people.

It may not be by definition "redownloading", but it is 100% reformatting or whatever the correct term is 80 gigs worth of stuff. My internet is stable, and every single download has been about 25-30 minutes. Including the initial download when I started playing again. It also displayed 0/80 and does count up to 40/80, 50/80, 60/80 etc. AFTER displaying the patch download which counts up to 10/12ish or whatever was, finishing, readying itself to play, and then *only* when I hit play it hits me with the full download again. This is 3x now, never had this happen on another game.

That could definitely be what is happening, though. I've just never seen this SO often. Also does repatching take the same amount of time as initial download?

Yeah, no. Not this time. Not for some of us. I had a fully functional install I haven't touched in a week or so, and it's indeed actually downloading 70GB+ worth of data to apply everything I've missed recently. Here's what my download looks like as of this post: https://i.imgur.com/uvKTq8s.png

I'm certainly aware of the difference you're speaking of with most steam patch downloads these days, but this time, this game.... not what's happening.

Mine is the same, they need to move from Steam to another platform where you can actually get download speeds over 1MB/s.

Yes this is exactly what has been happening, and it's happened 3 times now. I've had this happen to other games in the past, but only like once or twice usually as first patches where the whole game needed to be reformatted. Understandable in that case. I'm just trying to figure out why it was happening so often for this one. Never seen it happen twice in a row, much less 3x. Hopefully, next patch it will not happen again

What? It is way above 60MB/s, I've got only 250Mbit, so 30MB, but its goin even when big releases happen.

And yes, New World downloaded and rewrote like 300GB already. There goes your life of SSD
