2025: The death or resurrection of a legend.

2025 is a crucial point for the history of the world in general due to matters that are not meant to be explored here; however, it is also crucial for New World. I love the game, I adore it, and I believe it has enormous hidden potential to be the best MMO out there, but it has a huge problem: its development team. Just a few weeks ago, they showed us a very promising roadmap; it seemed like everything on it was exactly what this game needed to succeed, but... with Season 7 being the first of 2025 and bringing as its main new feature a GENUINE FAILURE called Fresh Servers PVP, what will really come in 2025? Let's be realistic, will any of that roadmap actually arrive in S8 and S9, or will they just keep releasing Fresh Servers with different themes and Battle Passes?


What I expect from 2025 AT THE VERY LEAST:

- All content streamlined in Matchmaking. I want to come home, press a button, and dive straight into an invasion.

- Invasion Mode with an Invasion Track similar to the PvP Track. Rewards in the form of mounts, outfits, housing items...

- A complete rework of wars. I don’t know how to fix them—that’s for the developers to figure out. But currently, only 1% of the player base participates in wars.

- New Endgame content: dungeons, a new raid, and a new zone.

- A REAL EXPANSION: A new expansion with some of the already mentioned features... a large and expansive new zone, level 80, new mount abilities, quests, endgame content, reputations... a true expansion.


If none of this happens, it’s over.

Ye they need to do something if they want to keep the game going.

There is a good game in there just needs the right support.

Let's keep track here:

4 threads for the last 3-4 weeks (2 eventually being popped) spinning overly positive for the game.

1 Thread in the last couple of days ranting about the situation of the game.

This one waffling the line between the two.

You're squarely now in the bargaining stage of grief, especially given the 3 years now that has happened with the game but still having expectations of potential thats really not manifested.

All in all, your wants do not match the reality of the game/devs situation. That dissonance will continue to be interesting to see how it unfolds but I predict it'll likely not have a favorable outcome.

And again, your twice now set of suggestions to the devs is wasted here as devs -intentionally- do not interact on this forum in this capacity.

The reason its counter intuitive is that again, outside of posting a news blurb, intentionally do not interact on this forum and havent since the first few months after release 3 years ago.

Dream all you want for cathartic purposes but for attempts for suggestions to manifest into the actual game, its a silly endeavor when all that is being done is discussing it with other players who cant affect change anymore than you.

On the AGS forum, long since closed, I remember writing an extremely simple suggestion that would have greatly annoyed the game's bots...

I was curtly told by one of the moderators at the time that under NO circumstances could a player suggest a modification to the game...

But now is the moment imo. Every MMO on the market has its major expansion annually or every two years. Considering that in New World they might have allocated those resources to releasing it on consoles… this year should be when they release their first major expansion. There’s no excuse.

It's never happening, hopefully Pantheon and Ashes of Creation don't turn out to be duds because NW is finished.

i loved this game and I really believed it had a firm chance at being a top player in the MMO space if they had any serious funding/development driving it.

but they dont and they wont.

imo the last chance to get it back into relevance was the expansion and it wasn't nearly enough to push the sentiment towards this game back to anything positive.

you nailed it, they will run low effort seasons and battle passes until the cash drys up so much that it costs more to pay the one or two underpaid devs left working on this dumpster fire. As all failed multiplayer games do nowadays.

New World was never legendary. It was just over-hyped. The truth is... the more they focus on PvP, the worse the game is going to become. PvPers are the minority in pretty much every MMO. If you appeal to the minority and less the majority, the majority will leave. It's always worked like this and I've seen many games come and go as a result of this.
