Source for the merge announcement?
Official website for the game has announced nothing.
https://www.newworld.com/en-us/news
Game news sites have reported on nothing. Last server merge they've covered was in November.
All in all until you provide a link to an official New World/Amazon source such as the official website, that you're just up to shenanigans yet again.

📢Upcoming Game World Merges 📢
In our ongoing effort to enhance your gaming experience, we'll be merging several game worlds. We'll continue to monitor population trends and adapt as needed.
🌐 Impacted Worlds
Several world populations will merge:
Taurus/Asterion/Andrometus/Siren (EU) → Aries (EU)
Apus/Phoenix/Sagitta (EU) → Draco (EU)
Aaru (EU) → Nysa (EU)
Cathaysia (US East) → Hudsonland (US East)
Arctica/Kalahari (US East) → Rosa (US East)
Kenorland/Cimmeria (US East) → Pangea (US East)
Maramma (US East) → Valhalla (US East)
Bellatrix/El Nath (US West) → Aquarius (US West)
Cursa (SA East) → Alkaid (SA East)
Pisces (AP Southeast) → Cerberus (AP Southeast)
So in a way ... less servers mean less population.
I see it now on the discord 12ish hours ago, yes. But keep in mind, as I said, in my other post that, per neuvillete's demand to google it by the other person, said information is still not on the official website nor having been covered yet by any gaming news site from which someone would be able to google it :P
Edit, seems it was on twitter/x too whIch didnt show up when I did a search either.
At any rate, is this the 5th or 6th time in 3 years we've seen a server merge? I wonder if dogtatokun's keep track better than I have remembering em.
- more players for raids and expeditions
- more items and supply in the trading post
- city hubs will feel more populated/crowded
- more people in the open world who might flag pvp
- more master crafters which you can give a order
- more people for region wars and other open world events
I can't think of many disadavantages?
Maybe more fight/struggle for rar resources (you will get barley for example even harder) or sometimes in prime time more lags, if you system is not good? But that's it.
