because the handling of firestaff or blunderbuss paired with my flail are closing the range gap better a flail is cursed in some situations
higher level focus perk dont matters for soloplay for myself at least.
as soloing stuff does need taunting elemental gems scale higher dps with int so i prefer to increase risk over build power
You're right, the top end of Focus isn't good for Flail/Void. I build similar to how you explained for PvP.
As far as the top end of focus goes, yeah I tend to stick to around 250 focus, and pump Int instead, with some Con, and 25 into str and dex to get the boost on light attacks and crit chance. Constitution usually is something like 25, 50, or 100 if I am dropping Int and Focus a bit each. The main thing is that the Void gauntlet is the damage dealer, while the flail is the get out of damage weapon.
But I also run heavy armor almost exclusively. Yes this comes with a damage reduction, but that escape roll it gets. *chefs kiss*
And then all that armor is real nice to have when something can actually hit hard. Plus, built like this, I can swap in 'the abyss' with my flail, and start doing great axe damage instead via Int.
