meele autosnapping over 5 yards into stunlock/staggers. thats the meta.
sometimes i double dodge back + frozen shower line in front of me, and they just snap over it onto me and stagger stunlock me to death if i have iceblock cd or my weaponswap bugs again and i cant firecharge away.
one has to use dodge and abilites timing and placement, the other just spams leftclick.
srs bsns.
Fire/Ice mages and paladin healers also come to mind, but this will change over time.
They will just have to change the name to World of Great Axe and Hammercraft because that will be the only viable spec in pvp or pve.
AGS needs to pick a direction and then start walking that way. Saying its a pve game, then spending all their time and resources for pvp balance (and not even large scale pvp, it seems like 1v1 duels are what they are looking at) isn't going to help keep the playerbase.
Its starting to feel like they "switch direction" to a pve game to sucker people into buying it, and now that its launched, its mostly pvp focused.
Honestly outside of wars and group pvp being a heavy healer just makes sense because the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ aggro mechanics. Honestly even with full set of aggro reduction gems sockets, then still peel off enemies on chest runs the second I drop a SG lol
nothing feels worse than being teh healer and running for my damn life while chunking healing over my shoulder into my SG and praying. SO yes I get that Heavy healers feels bad when you are 1v1 me, but for reals 2 dudes with hammers and axes and some coordination can kill my beefy ass with little more than timing CCs.
The changes in PTR for most classes feel bad, I eve tried Mage with FS and VGm then IG and VG, and none of it felt good as far as melee just being better.
Later guys, see you in the next WOW killer.. hahaha
GA/Hammer builds were the 2nd top dog to GA/Hatchet builds until recently Hammer/Lifestaff builds became popular.
Go equip a GA/Hammer and tell me you can kill a good LS/Hammer build. It's not going to happen. The most annoying build in game right now by far is the Paladin.
To be a Paladin all you need is a Life Staff and a melee weapon. You think GA/Hammer is bad? You're now imagining how bad Life Staff(LS)/Hammer could be, let me introduce you to...
Lifestaff/Sword&Shield. The ultimate annoyance in PvP. Good luck taking them out. You complain about dying to GA/Hammers like myself who while tanky are prone to being stunlocked and focused on. Enemy groups treat us like healers and down is instantly if they're smart. I guess you'd know that if you bothered watching the scenes play out instead of diving head first into them without a clue as to what's going on.
Next up are Fire Mages that are insanely OP right now. In most Wars, people want Fire Mages and Paladins. GA/Hammer builds like myself are left in Standby over a Fire Mage or a LS/Hammer build, 9 times out of 10. Everyone's swapping to them, so they take up the majority.
Then we have the Ice Gauntlet's Ice Storm itself. You ever get trapped in an Ice Storm? If you did you wouldn't be calling GA/Hammer OP since we have effectively zero chance to escape it.
Neither do you.
You will say "Use Charge" for the greataxe. Ah, see this is where you get to learn how the strategy works for GA/Hammer users.
When we spawn in OPR, we are expected to run to the very center as fast as possible. To do this, we need to use our Charge ability every time it comes off of CD. The Charge ability is never ready when we reach the middle, as it's always on CD from getting us to the middle.
We're required to head to the middle and use Gravity Well and Path of Destiny. These moves lay the ground ready for an Ice Storm to be cast and then mid is easily taken by the allied team.
What we do is Gravity Well, locking everyone at the gate. Then Path of Destiny to push anyone who somewhat made it in back enough to be struck by the Ice Storm. Then Ice Storm is used by the Ice Gauntlet player.
If this happens the team stuck at the gate dies almost immediately. The front line is effectively chopped down by half and all of the front tanks are taken out. This leaves maybe a handful of melee and our back line fully exposed to be taken out.
So what should be nerfed here? Is it the Greataxe / Hammer build who wastes 3 very important abilities to lay the ground work for the Ice Gauntlet player who reaps all of the rewards? (kill confirms)
Or should we nerf the Ice Gauntlet build where all they have to do is press 1 ability to reap in say 5 kills at once with very little effort? Auto stunlocked and killed in a matter of 2 seconds.
Or should we nerf the Life Staff Paladin builds that will heal and tank through all of that, laugh it off and dodge inside ready to distract half of the team as they try and dwindle down his HP.
Or should we nerf the OP fire staff players that sit outside and never even help cap the point, only assist by stealing kills.
OP should probably learn the battlefield before complaining about GA/Hammer users that even after the next update won't be the META. We haven't been META for a bit now. We were at the start, this post would fit the bill a week into release.
Edit: Forgot to mention that killing in PvP does not matter. It's about capping points. If everyone rolls Lifestaff/Hammer or Lifestaff/Sword&Shield, nobody is killable. Points are not cappable. The fundamental basics of PvPing with an objective right now are broken. Nerfing GA/Hammer builds will not fix this problem. Me killing you does not warrant me winning the game. That gives me 1 more kill count while your team possibly sits there invincible with sword and board healers that are wearing heavy gear.
Unless you didn't know that everyone runs heavy gear and you're singling our build out for using it oddly enough, when we're the build it's meant to be used by. Mages/Healers are using heavy gear over light 9 times out of 10.
Meaning that investing in two or more peaces of freedom will be quite huge vs CC.
There are a lot of nice changes on PTR.
The most OP stuff I.E Life Staff + Ice Gauntlet is getting nerfed <3
but 10 meter lunge left click from GA is still there, nice.
What all these Heavy Armor Greataxe and Hammer / Ice Gauntlet / Firestaff whiners dont realize is
They will suffer more from Lifestaff nerfs.
Im Heal and using Light right now, with Nerfs i will go Heavy and i will care more for myself, Heals are still very well able to survive.
There Teammates not so much hahaha
No Lifestaff with Heavy Armor ? No firestaff with Heavy, No icegauntlet with Heavy ! Mage classes should wear Light like we Heals "should" do....
