This. I've heard the material efficiency for upping your crafting maxes out at the LOWEST LEVEL. Eg. making 10000 wooden shelves to up your furniture is better than making (hypothetically) 10 maple super duper dressers. Because the flux/sp/tannin you use to get the more advanced mats add up.
So - I stand there crafting 10000 shelves, 1000 iron axes, standing there like an idiot scrapping them all and doing it again. Its so boring.
They are doing ti because people are using easy treks to level professions. Aka linen shirts/hats instead of going down the line and making the harder to make stuff (Which is more exp and less materials.) but it uses reagents. So instead of 330k fiber, you'd now need over 1 million to get from 0-200 if you did it the easy trek way. Where as leveling it with the proper materials would likely be around 500k fiber.
they force you to craft the higher level crafts like ori or starmetal weapons, because right now you can level with crafting only iron/steel weapons your way to 200.
after the fix, the starmetal und ori craftings yield 3x/4x more exp and the exp cap for lv200 is also increased by 4x. iron/steel wont be a efficient way to reach 200, because they only yield 1x/2x exp.
leveling to 200 with steel will need 4x the current amout of steel.
leveling to 200 with the highest tier crafting available will change nothing.
Higher crafting is going to be good, lower crafting is going to be bad. This is trying to balance out the crafting of higher end gear and using reagents to properly level.

Someone broke it down completely.
Just FYI. It's not a particularly important bit of information.
You will have grinded more than they did...that's the point of the change. You get around 3x more exp for the higher tier crafts after the change, where as low tier (Which most people used.) will remain the same.
It takes less materials to make a layer leather shirt (currently.) than it does to make the equivalent coarse leather shirts, but people do the coarse because it is easier/requires no reagents.
Until the inevitable server wipes. 😉
Are they gonna make all other sources of leveling slower as well? Otherwise, it'll be absolutely pointless to level crafting skills. If townboards remain the same; it'll be spam dungeons, bosses, etc to gain equipment, and patchwork it into a kit.
Then go straight into townboards on lv 1 spawn. It'll be even worse than now.
? They are increasing the required EXP to stop people from spamming low materials to max out crafting. If you go up in the tiers aka Tier 2-5 instead of sticking at tier 1 the entire way, it does not and will not affect you and will infact, be faster than the way people who grinded earlier did it. You will just be using refining reagents to do it (As it should of been from the get go.) Getting almost 18k for a craft will be better than 420 for a craft.
It will not be faster. It will be slower. Not by much, but it will be slower. Not only do you have to melt down ore and everything, you will ahve to gather MORE items. Iron-steel-starmetal-oricalchum and so on.
Saying it will be quicker is wrong.
