SEA Server confirmed soon and located in Jakarta, Indonesia?? Is this news reliable and credible?

I read the article from venturebeat yesterday. The article tell about to launch new region in the Asia Pacific specifically located in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Is this news reliable and credible?

They have to setup the AWS first then they can expand New World to the region. They probably already have servers on container ships though.

When the SEA Server ready to launch? After NW full release? If that so, our characters should be able transfer to SEA Server.

Some time after full release, yes. The servers are simply piggybacking off the AWS data center in Jakarta that Amazon announced a couple years ago, and last I saw was that construction of the data center was expected to be completed in late 2021 or early 2022. So some time after that.

Yeah a transfer would the best for you guys. Not sure if they have that in place but would would be a fair shake. But then you have to wonder would it not be awesome to start from 0 after learning the game? :)

Not gonna lie, I am willing to start completely from scratch if needed. My ping drops 66-75% switching from Sydney to Jakarta and it would be better to just start over than suffer higher ping because I'm stubborn.

Living in the Philippines it'll be better for participating in PVP on a SEA server being I'd guess the latency will be lower. Not too easy to PVP against someone who has a ping below 100 and yours is around 300 like mine was playing on US West servers during open beta.

Thats what sucks though this game has been in development for a long while and a SEA server is just an afterthought imo.

Amazon and the minster of finance of Indonesia have been in talks since around 2016. Azmon is going to be investing a billion into indonesia and partnering with the government to train 100 thousands of people in technical fields by 2025. Placing servers for SEA in Indonesia is not a after thought.

I just get the double standards of some SEA players. If a Asian developed game comes out the western market would be more then happy to get it half a year AFTER it is release. And often have to wait a year or more. Yet when the shoe is on the other foot you have people going on how unfair it is or calling it down right discrimination .

Yeah there's plenty of games in Asian markets I wanted to play/try (w/o horrific ping's), but they have long gone, its just the way it is, at the very least amazon seems to be working towards setting up global distribution and publishing services, not just for AGS games but for any they feel they can bring to untapped markets.

As a gamer I can feel the frustration, and all you can really do is request and wait, the click bait bitterness/resentment isn't needed, and really doesn't help a situation.

SG Infrastructure is way better and AWS is already there.

We really need SEA servers. A big chunk of the player base will be force to play on servers that are to be quite blunt terrible for them. How will this affect these servers? Will people flag for pvp because their ping is so bad? And if you release SEA servers after launch are players going to re-locate and level up or even play at all!?

this is false information. they have NOT confirmed SE servers. That's an office in indonesia
