Will this game have a decent necromancer type class in the game?

There’s currently ice and fire in the form of ice gauntlet and fire staff.

https://newworldfans.com/builds

Click create a build and then select weapon type and look at the skill tree. There’s also some player build on there for you to look at. Clicking a skill brings up a description. Same with passives.

Simple answer - no
The game does not have any set classes, no spell system and only a few magical weapons.

The game doesn't have set classes and even then it doesn't have any sort of pet/minion system.

There was some questionable leaked information about other weapons that we did not see in beta. Void gauntlet being one. Possible we may see a healing/dps weapon that uses some sort of drain life type skills. But this may be during a far later content release if at all.

Bro, there are no classes...
AdahnGorion Aug 18, 2021 @ 11:05am
Did they not talk about that coming to the cash shop in 2022?

On a serious note.
No.. you are your weapon

You are not a class. You are a random sailor person that gets shipwrecked and pick up a weapon of some type and starting wacking things with it. The more you use said weapon the better you get with it.

And the end goal is to try and find the geezer who’s stashed the rum.

I know the game doesn't have classes as such, but the weapons have classes attached to them via skill lines.

All I was asking was is there a weapon that allows you to play the part of a necromancer?

Then your answer is a simple "no".
There are no mechanics that resemble a necromancer, like e.g. summon sceletons/undead or bonespikes or anything. At least not yet, I have heard rumors about a "Void Gauntlet", but no idea when or if that one is added and if it would allow to play necromancer-style.
In the current state (as it was in the beta) you would not be able to play the part of a necromancer in any way.

Necromancers would make this game a nightmare for PvE and PvP. They will camp spawns will their pets on aggressive, farming exp and respawn locations. PvP will be awful as well. It'll always be more than 1 vs 1 when fighting a Necro.
