He's clairvoyant. We have to wait and see. Probability says no but there is always hope.
Aeternum is just name change
New World, even though it can be fun, has no where near the following Final Fantasy does. If anything, the New World "revamp" *could* bring the population back that it used to have. I, personally, don't believe it'll do much more than that.

Character archetypes:
Aeternum is also getting seven character archetypes and a whole bunch of customization. Each of the following archetypes can be changed at any point in the game, but it looks like they determine which starting weapons and proficiencies you have.
Destroyer: A mighty slayer, brutally executing foes with a massive great axe and war hammer.
Soldier: A fighter by trade, balancing defense and offense with heavy armor and shield, sword and hatchet.
Ranger: A keen-eyed hunter, scout, and pathfinder, proficient with bow and spear.
Musketeer: A nimble explorer and adventurer, skilled with rifle and rapier alike.
Mystic: A scholar-warrior who seeks to master the forces of life and death.
Swordbearer: A gusty, heavily-armed berserker, wielding a colossal greatsword and broad-bored blunderbuss.
Occultist: A practitioner of primal elemental arts, commanding the forces of frost and flame.
The housing will still be dumb, renting for gods sake, the economy will probably still be run by bots and legacy players unless they just make npc traders and get rid of the bots, then everything will be too expensive, we level up too fast for our crafting abilities so we're screwed to Sunday. Will those things change? Will we still have to fight other players for nodes? All bogus.
For me if it changes how we level up weapons, level up characters, gives us better crafting with a little less grind, some interesting exploration, it's worth a go. Will it be everything for everyone? I doubt it as players are pretty busy hating on Amazon, as usual. Frankly getting rid of the last vestiges of PvP would be the best start imaginable or just putting them off in a corner and letting them flex for one another and letting the whole game be solo friendly with no raids at all would be the best of all possible worlds. YMMV.
I'll get a few more hours, might make a new toon and give it a chance to amaze me.
New World is my first MMO and holds a very special place in my heart, but at the same time the leadership/devs have left me jaded with how they'll handled the game.
I feel for ya. Everquest was my first MMO and the Devs just let it slip through their fingers to Blizzard. I gave up 7 years of char development and moved on to WoW. I will move on again when the next big MMO hits the market sometime in the next 5 years. I will never be as attached to a game or the people I played with again. Enjoy your first. It will never be the same.
