P.S. Some people post so they can report your response.
Having a mount allows you to get to places faster that you haven't explored. Once there you can of course unlock Spirit fast-travel Shrines, but you'll still use your mount quite a lot riding on the roads and through the wilderness.
Another benefit to having a mount is you can get to and return from quest objectives faster which means you'll level up faster. And you can do PvP missions with less chance of getting ganked and losing your PvP quest progress.
Also. you'll die a lot less. if you run from point A to Z you'll have to fight every NPC along the way. That's time consuming and more times than not you'll get ganged up on and die, having to respawn, lose time, and have to rerun that same path. But, with a mount you zoom past those obnoxious mobs to your quest destination, do your quest, and ride to a shrine to teleport to turn it in.
So I absolutely recommend getingt the DLC for nothing else than the mount.
That said, the DLC also ups your level cap to 65, changes one of the old starter areas to a level 60 - 65 area with more quests, monsters, loot to acquire and raises the level caps for gathering and crafting. Those are additional benefits over and above the mount. So get it and thank me later.
