However you get in-game rewards (cosmetics) that will carry over in the actual release of the game on October 15th. These rewards will be locked to whatever version you play the open beta on though. For example if you play open beta on PC and earn all of the in-game rewards for the release of the game, you will only see those rewards if you play the full release version on PC.
If you want to hear my opinion, if you already played NW and have a max level character right now, I would just jump in now and start farming because come the big update on October 15th all the servers will be flooded with new players and returning players buying materials in the trade post.
I think you are probably over estimating expectations on release there.
Agreed - "flooded" is very much not likely. A few more players, sure. But the market is saturated with so many good games to play, that Concord shut down in two weeks after taking eight years to make. New World is not going to get a large portion of the player base at this point.

I think servers will get flooded for sure. Myself and a few friends stopped playing NW a long time ago. Practically forgot about the game. This new update is bringing us all back. Got an itch for NW.
