Download game and game won’t start

I own the base game no DLC. I downloaded the game this afternoon to check out the changes before new content drops but when I click on Play the New World splash screen starts, “loading” then “waiting for game” and nothing. After a few min the splash screen goes away and no game. Steam shows the STOP button acting like it’s running but no game is available to play.

I’ve re verified files
Tried the network trick
Run as admin
Deleted the AGS folders
Turned off firewall to test outbound traffic
Verified graphics and windows updates.

No luck. Any ideas? Thanks

I installed it 2 days ago and had no issue. Damn I feel bad for you man :(
Wasn't there people with the same issue at launch? Can't remember.

I spent the afternoon looking at vids. Most are a year old or more so I was asking in hopes there is some other magic to try.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled 3x
Moved game from C to D (an SSD drive)

No luck

Not using a vpn are you? Using a vpn can keep the game from starting.

dude i am having the same exact issue ive literally tried everything. whats wierd was i was playing just fine, played for 8 hours then quit the game, and when i tried launching it again it the same thing happened that happened to you. its still happening 24 hours later

did you update your driver before playing? cause i updated my drivers before relaunching and thats when the problem started

My drivers, (GPU and Win Updates) were current before installing and trying to play.

I've also now, reinstalled Steam, Tried -windowed in the run option box, Run as admin, run as windowed (together and separate) still no luck

so i just deleted the ags files and it worked, did you delete them from all 3 locations? then do a computer restart?

Yes, all there spots, and rebooted the system. I am not installing the test server version to see if it will launch. this has never been installed before.

I was looking to try the changing of the resultion (as posters in the past stated this was an issue) but I do not have anything in my appdata\roaming\New World folder, thus no usersettings.javasave file. I deleted that folder and tried to have the game rebuild the files on launch. The folders are created, but the files are not.

I found a crash log that just repeats these error lines:

I did have 2 versions of GameInputService running (one from 2023 one in mid 2024). Resolved the old one, but still get the error:

Alright this is late and you probably got it work somehow but I'll share it anyways.I had the same problem and after trying for a long time what fixed the problem for me was typing -dx12 in the Launch Options from Properties and using Option 1 when launching the game.
