Is crafting your gear worth it or is it a waste of time

I think of jumping into the game as I really like life skills staff.
I know that in many mmo the thigs you craft are garbage compare to things you loot in dungeons and such or you just get very good sets for doing MSQ.

The devs literally RUINED this game. Ruined it.

The only thing you need to be a crafter for is the one single item the weapon matrix or armor matrix. That’s it.


You can no longer craft the best gear. It’s really sad to see.

Elitists allowed this game to be gate kept. I guess so they could have an easier time one shorting lesser geared players.

crafting provides easy xp and even after max level you will gain territorial xp most people with limited cash like to craft thingies from some they have looted and stockpiled for later use instead of wasting cash for for the action house seller greediness if very uncommon.

crafting gathering tools and music instruments is never a waste because only a few sidequest drops them.

most people wont get rich from random crafting results market prices from most legacy servers are completely broken while freshstart are still less insane may change over time or not.

trained tradeskills are needed for the various level 700 gearscore recipes provided from events to be valuable while being very cheap.

Dude, stop crying in everyone's posts. It's an Mmo, some things will be easy to acquire, and some things will be very difficult (never impossible) to acquire. If you don't want to put any effort into New World to get the high end armor/weapons then it's a YOU problem, not a game problem,
Anyway to the OP, you can craft potions/lumber/metals/food/etc. so crafting can/is profitable if you want to go that route.

I am not even max level yet.

I have every weapon at 20. I have half a million coins. None of my crafts are over 100.

The gathering ones however are really high. Crazy thing? I didn't spend a dollar. I literally gathered everything on flint tools.

Fresh server start.

This has been my endgame.

Just the constant RNG makes crafting a game for people who have nothing better to do than gather materials to play a lousy lottery.
Or I guess you could buy RMT gold to get piles of botted goods and get your lottery ticket fix that way.
The sheer amount of materials required to just refine your materials for crafting is nuts -- and was even worse at launch.

Meanwhile, people just get lucky in activities and get a legendary for "free" -- free of material cost and skill development cost.

Total wast of time. You spend all your time and money leveling up your skills to fight in the AH for a sale.

@Masked Yes I made my money in the first week of the fresh start servers. Its over. Your not making money like that now. I give it a half life of a 2 weeks. That is generous. By end of the year you wont even be noticed. Just one of the 100's who ran up the grind in the first week of a mostly empty server. Just like the fresh start legacy servers are now.

Its worth it ...but selling it is more worth it.

In 2021, crafting was properly done, every single epic and legendary item crafted was sold for 400-30000 gold.

Except for that the Game didnt had any item sink systems implemented,. The only thing for Item Sinks the game had was BOP after equipping the item.
