Why is the AH closed?

I broke away from the main story and when I got to the storage it was fine but when I tried to open the AH it was closed and can only be opened after you mainline quest some part. Why is that? I got there, why is it closed to me? I thought this was an open game that let me try things.

Closed? The only time it would be "closed" would be before exploring the AH and storage as part of the first quests.

Never been closed for me. I'd bought some weapons before Grace gave me a few gold, and told me to check out the Trading Post.

There is/was a small windows from character creation introduced that prevents you from using the AH, was to stop bots etc may even be bound to level. These days part of the MSQ actually gets you to interact with the AH which may actually activate it for the character cant remember. Could not use it either at first when I started new char.

The opening of the AH is linked to the quest where you are to look at the storage shed and the trading post right after arriving at your starting town and checking in with Grace. It looks as if they only wanted to show you around, but it's actually an unlock.

Reason is as Shephard said to prevent the most basic of bots from using the auctioneer.

wrong! I was in and out of my storage and AH before I started the MSQ or any quest in town. It was the first think I did when I got to town.

Well, I can't get into the AH without doing the Questline....this should change, so I could buy some "Drop of Azoth" for crafting. I just wanted to play the way I wanted.

wrong! I was in and out of my storage and AH before I started the MSQ or any quest in town. It was the first think I did when I got to town.

Not wrong. You can use the storage at lvl 1 if you want, but the trading post is locked. I said "the opening of the AH" I did not say "the opening of the AH and the storage". The only reason why I even mentioned looking at the storage shed is because that's what the quest wants you to do so OP knows which one. If you gonna count peas, at least do it properly dude.

But you can play the way you wanted. You can not do any quests and live with not using the auctioneer, finding people to trade in person on trade chat channel and it's gonna be less convenient ofc. Or you can do the first 15 minutes of quests until you reach the first city, do the look at stuff quest and then stop doing the main quests forever. What's the issue?

You should know what you are talking about. Nice story but not true. I just ran off the beach and opened the auction and bank with out doing any quest in town. Spout disinformation and make your self smart looken LOL.

Something is amiss here. I've got a character who can't access AH due to not having done quests as a challenge. But after you are so insistant that it was possible I just made a new character, walked up to the trading post and again can't interact with it. Exactly like the thread starter experiences it, exactly like I said.

You can interact with the AH without a quest. Someone is bugged. I have given my atls money on the beach and they have bought stuff at the AH before doing anything else.

A quest wont fix it. Its a moot point anyone can come off the beach and test it.
