I'm pretty sure I even read the co-op part on the website!
Then, if that's not what changed, what did? You know, except for downgraded character model graphics, bad UI changes and pointless addition of archetypes.
AGS PR in their horrendous announcement. According to them, Aeternum would make New World a co-op ARPG.
Thank god I remembered correctly!
There was never such an announcement.
They just changed it to "ARPG" for the console marketing.
And they changed the experience of the main story quests, so it feels more like an ARPG than a MMO.
I agree with the "worst marketing campaigns" sentence.
But AGS never said, that New World is not an MMO anymore. They just want to highlight the better single player experience in New World. Well, they did this bad :)
But I saw very much blog posts and streamer commentary, which was just wrong. I saw all videos from the AGS dev team and announcements, most streamers and wannabe gaming journalist said it wrong or just interpreted it wrong. Of course, it was Amazons fault, that it was possible to interpret it wrong. But I would expect, that a gaming journalist would ask Amazon to verify the stuff, before they write ♥♥♥♥, but not everyone did this.
