Calling it scum behaviour is a bit harsh, I am now level 30 and still finishing Everfall without doing any of the side quests there which I find sad as I enjoy doing quests and having to stop myself from doing them so I don't blast through is making the game less enjoyable for me.
Not sure how slowing down the levelling process gives an advantage at end game or makes anyone 'elitist' or it's shameful to want to enjoy the levelling and questing.
If you do ANYTHING besides the MSQ, be it gathering/crafting, side quests, town board missions, lore page hunting or exploring, you WILL be ahead simply because the MSQ gives too much exp.
Also, it would be easy for AGS to simply add a consumable item that cuts exp gain by 50% for those of us who enjoy slow leveling. Other MMORPGs have systems like that, e.g. stone of the turtle (LotRO) or the exp disabler NPC (WoW).
It is more fun now and laid back and I could take side quest as I wished not to bridge level gaps. It is easier but not by a large margin.
No Gathering, No Dungeon , no crafting no side quests, no mob griending, no PvP.
Then i gues you would be on level the entire time.
I did all side quests in monarch, did gathering and crafting and now i am level 62 while the MSQ is as 50.
Your not suppose to reach max level in a weekend... Max level should take a player months to achieve in a normal healthy MMORPG... New world is only shooting themselves in the foot, as this is just going to create...
I did the main story line it was fun, I am now max lvl, game clocked, done over, time to log off and quit playing for good....
All I've done is the main quest, side quests and crafting (most trade skills around 100, where they should be). It's a really weird design choice, if you do even just one extra activity alongside the main quest you rocket ahead, I want to try out dungeons and faction quests but it'll just make the problem worse so I'm just doing the main story and crafting now.
