Why are mounts still locked behind a DLC?

I do think the Angry Earth standalone price should be reduced.

As it stands, New World's base game was priced at $40 (though fairly regularly on sale) all the way until the Aeternum launch. Angry Earth's been a consistent $30 since its launch a year ago, with a single 20% sale back in July.

So even if they waited until now to buy the expansion, original base game owners (excepting those who bought on sale) will still have paid $70 for the two releases - $10 more than people joining with Aeternum.

A reduction in cost seems like a fair enough trade.

I understand dlc but I agree locking a core component behind a dlc is pretty weird, thats probably the biggest reason why the dlc has very "mixed" reviews

It is stupid of the devs to lock such an important thing for a game, especially when the map is bland to traverse on foot. How to lose loads of your playerbase 101.

Game is fun, but asking me to pay $30 so I can use a mount while leveling up? Lmfao no thanks. Oh, new content you say? WHERE? Where is this new content while I'm leveling up - the most important time to have the mount for me. Greedy game devs need to find a new industry to destroy.

Tbf they have revamped the entire base story. I don't remember any of the lvl 40-60 story missions being like it is now, at launch

All these new world fan boys trying to justify them locking core content behind a paywall dlc lol sad because every other single mmo has never made you pay actual money to specifically use a mount to traverse their monotonous drawn out landscapes

So you're saying I didn't pay $40 for Burning Crusade which gave us flying mounts, and I didn't pay $40 for Dragonflight that gave me Dragon Riding? Weird, I could have sworn that happened.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm referring to lol seeing as new world will be dead in a month or two that's only $30 you had to pay for wow compared to the $70 total for new world

Ignorance is coming from Amazon not from me. I am supposed to replay a game that i finished 3 years ago but without a mount. I have to feel/be the slowest in the group only because Amazon is greedy....

Make the damn mounts free for all...Can't care less about the extra content the dlc is offering...Mounts should be available for everyone.
I payed the full price at release which is not even close to what Aeternum is priced at. Why am i prived from a simple feature as a mount...

This game does not have a monthly sub, if you cant afford the simple one time payment for the expansion you don't deserve to have a mount.
