Instead the server was still dead and everyone playing on a fresh server.
Now I am levelling a new guy on fresh server. I swear, if the game dies off again and servers are dead - zero chance I will come back to grind everything again a third time. I want my character to be able to survive on persistent worlds like retail wow. I still have my first ever wow character from 2004 who is perfectly viable on busy servers till this current day - 20 years later.
Having my new world main imprisoned on a server with 3 people hanging around the trading post is a joke.
Yep, on the new start servers, settlements are crammed with players, and loads can be seen running around in the wilds. There must be lots of console players in the game. TBH, I sometimes enjoy playing my older characters for a bit of peace and quiet The servers are less manic. No lag in towns, as there are only 10 or 12 players doing stuff there. The wilds are even quieter, and this makes it easier to get resources, which is always nice.
On a new start servers, I was quite amused by the amount of players turning up at one of the VERY few spots where Barley spawns. They all want it to make food for their mounts, of course, but all were doomed to disappointment. Too many people beating them to it. 😄
Newworld with the current numbers will be around a decade at least if not more
That even though they are way past their best, if they ever had a best, and even though they have next to no players, they're still around. New World could potentially be a long way from "the end". Always assuming Amazon doesn't decide to pull the plug, in the next year or two, of course.
