PS: Only if you bought game before Aeternum, if you bought game now Standard is full game + DLC included.
If all you bought was the previous original base game version, then yeah endgame and mounts are locked behind the DLC and you'll need to get it to get current with the game and everyone else.
HOWEVER, you don't need to buy it to play, you can still play your base version of the game and all the old content you're familiar with will still be there along with whats changed since you last played and you can play it as much as you want until you make up your mind on if you want to spend the extra 30 for the expansion to see the new endgame stuff and get a mount.
I will just play till lvl 60 as you suggested and try it out :)
