Do you need the DLC to properly play the game?

Aeternum is literally base + DLC so yeah, you need DLC for enjoy all contents, mounts and future ilvl contents (if will exists)

PS: Only if you bought game before Aeternum, if you bought game now Standard is full game + DLC included.

I would suggest that you play the base game until you see if you enjoy it, you can play up to lvl 60 with the base game and the only thing you're missing is mounts; witch is no big deal and not needed imho; but it's up to you really.

That depends. If you bought the new 60 dollar version then no, it's already included in that so you'd already be completely current.

If all you bought was the previous original base game version, then yeah endgame and mounts are locked behind the DLC and you'll need to get it to get current with the game and everyone else.

HOWEVER, you don't need to buy it to play, you can still play your base version of the game and all the old content you're familiar with will still be there along with whats changed since you last played and you can play it as much as you want until you make up your mind on if you want to spend the extra 30 for the expansion to see the new endgame stuff and get a mount.

so your position is they should just give you the dlc? That's not how businesses run.
