Returning player… why is the game ugly
The game had jaw dropping visuals when it came out but now it looks significantly worst. Everything cranked to max and adaptive resolution is off… am I crazy or is something off

It is definitely downgraded / adjusted graphics. I almost wonder if it's a bug, but hte options for video settings are quite a bit slimmed down as well, which makes me think it has to do with some weird console parity. I am going to play until lvl 10 or so, but tbh - i don't think i'll stick with it, so far.

I was gonna take a break from Throne and liberty to try the update but visuals look really really bad. I’m not much of a graphics matter person but when I downloaded the game I was expecting what it looked like before, it’s so hard to get back into the game now.

Looks the same to me. Might not be remembering it properly. Never thought it was anything special though. Just a lot of foliage doing the heavy lifting and hiding the cracks. Still decent though, just always thought it was weird some people say it's crazy good.

Performance is a ton better than it used to be so you might be right.

Man installed the game yesterday (after played until level 40 at games first Launch)
What have they done?

Again :
- no Hud scaling?
- dialogs looking way worse than before, now it just looks like they just add text over paint...
- game looks kind of blurry, even on 4k max settings
- cant disable nameplates and damage numbers???
- dx11 and dx12 tested : dx12 runs better but has many crashes

yeah i think it depends but there's a lot more blurriness and jaggedness to it.

Like, this is a screen grab of the corner of the starting area

i have my graphcis set to maximum on dx12. Doesn't it look bad to you? Idk

Seems like a lack of ambient occlusion based on that screenshot. Like, there's none of it around the base of the rocks or anything to make them look more grounded. Not sure if that's different to how it was before though. The jaggies are all over too, yeh. Not in game myself right now so I can't fiddle with it.

yeah, ther's no settings to mess with it further though. There's only like 8 options, and all are set to maximum, with my resolution is 1440p. So, I'm not sure what's going on there or how to fix it.

Well i hoped it was trolling but it isnt.

I have played when the game released on an 2070ti, and its looked much better then this version does on my 4080 :s

Its like they 'smutched' the graphics and threw a HDR vibrant theme over it...

Its not something that is breakling my fun to play but it is a shame.

From what I have read, it's because they had to downgrade the game to make it work on consoles. But idk, i'd figure they are completely different builds.

I cannot believe people are actually wondering why the graphics are bad after they announced a console launch. If you did not see this coming. I have some property in Alaska that I want to sell you for cheap. Let me know if you are interested.

That random BS, other mmo's are also on console and pc, and the graphics of these other games are always different. If it be ESO or final fantasy or black desert, they all look better on pc in comparison with the console versions.

Ive played all of them both on pc and console.

Yeah I did notice the graphics look worse then before everything maxed on DX12 running in 2k on a RTX 4070 Ti.

Yeah, because the engine a game is created in does not have anything to do with if it needs to be downgraded or not for a console release. CyberPunk 2077 did not have a problem like this at all, but don't worry it was not because of the engine that it was built on. That is not why they are switching for the in house engine that that used to create the game for the next game.

Every MMO from this point on will be Console and or Mobile first with PC secondary. So better get used to it. And Nvidia is much to blame also with their craptastic drivers over the last decade. They can squeeze so much more from their cards but they don't care. I bet many games down the road will in fact run better on Intel video cards. now that Nvidia is pushing AI over everything else.
