Somehow they made a fun game and are now ruining it with their decisions.
most of us are not crafters. we just want to drop it from raid or dungeon m3. that is it.
So just because you like it, it's fine. Gotcha.
For a game all about choice, Amazon sure took a lot of choice away since the console relaunch.
The crafting while I liked it at first has become a choir.. Especially the fact that you need materials from the last tier in order to make the current one. I understand you need some things from the lower tiers, but the basic stuff like ingots? If I want to make Gold ingots I should just need to mine gold, not gold and some other crap in order to make Gold Ingots...
I see what the old players are talking about now, there is pretty much no reason to continue since everything I want is pretty much time gated or locked behind some crap PVE content that I DO NOT want to do.
This is how the game has been for awhile. The new content, cycles players who have never/barely done the content before into groups. If you only solo in this game like the devs intended with Aeternum, you're constantly put with terrible players and can't get real content done like Gorgon. So you're left joining a company that decided to become a speed running company for some reason, further splitting the player base into every man for himself pug groups, and fast 40 minute Gorgon runs.
All I know is the devs said they are moving toward crafting having a bigger role for gear in future updates, instead of gorgon gatekeeping, which is a good thing.
Some of us want to buy it in the AH and not craft, raid or M3.
Its fair that some items are locked behind drops, they also mentioned they will make every zone viable meaning only specific drops at certain locations, like crafting mods, because most of us just ignore alot of the zones.
The base metals like Iron ore are worth more because you need so much of it to refine into better materials up the chain. Mythril is near worthless because it sits near the end of the chain and doesn't go through the tedious refinement levels that iron ore does. And this is all gate kept by Obsidian Flux which is just so dreadful.
Mythril and other high end materials is literally everywhere in some zones.. This is basic supply and demand 101.. The more you have of something the less valuable it is. I stumbled on a high level area that literally has near 50 Mythril nodes that spawn CONSTANTLY... How is this even an area in this game??
High level nodes should be more rare, hell they should even make the ones in CK very very rare but just drop a crap load of ore when you mine it. Make people want to fight over stuff like we are suppose to, human history is full of examples of people fighting over natural resources.
As it is right now there is zero reason to go to CK because there are much better areas to farm the stuff in other parts of the game, and the yield is pathetic especially when you have to pvp and/or fight off elite mobs and lightning strikes that take all your health.
Part of the fun I had leveling up by crafting/gathering/side quests was the idea I would have a high level of trade skills for crafting my own gear at end game.
I didn't expect to craft the very best, but I expected to craft good enough.
The open world gathering was so immersive I figured that crafting was most certainly a major feature of this title. Now I'm finding out that isn't true. This game truly does work against its own strengths. (i made a thread about this two weeks ago)
I read that this game was a sandbox type. But I'm pretty sure sandboxes are known for multiple paths to an outcome and an abundance of choice.
(Changed my review to a thumbs down. I enjoyed the leveling, but this game was purposely front-loaded as a hook while the rest of the game remains unfinished and unrealized.)
yes its gamble but atleast you get chance and its almoust for free since they cheap
This was mentioned, but its not the point. CK stuff is completely random and is PVP biased and for obvious reasons unless you are super lucky it gives you make do equipment at best.
To re-iterate crafting is technically completely pointless at present for all but a few things.
They could be making a similar mistake with the PVP season servers, this will pull PvP players away from main worlds, and as PvP loops are important for ongoing viability of Towns etc.. well you get my point.
They need to start thinking about not breaking the game every update to satisfy a very small part of the population.
Unless NW is just being used to cut there teeth on.... hmmmm :)
We will see.
