Using Minimap Mod = Ban

It was confirmed on the forums today that the minimap mod will lead to a ban. The same is true with any mod for the game.

To sum it up, the overwolf version will most likely not get you banned as they have a relationship with the game developer.

The OTHER overlays can very well get you banned because of the files being modified, and Amazon not knowing exactly what you are doing.

Trying to explain this is starting to get painful, so I concede to the cheaters this time. Fortunatly for me, I dont play this, so I will never run into em as long as they are here.

Look NWs rules are NW rules. Not sure if your trolling but mod support has been pretty common amongst MMOs especially for UI reasons. Either your trying to argue for to be a forum troll or just ignorant. No advantages for using a mini map. It's called QoL.

I also find it a bit silly you basically called people stupid because that can't open a file. If you said edit or script a macro I might have given some flex room because while simple it does require a tiny bit of know how. Any one with 5min can learn. An add on is generally no harder than installing a game.

I don't think it's needed in NW because all resources are static. If you have a bad memory just write down your farm locations, use alt tab and NW resource generator or youtube. I guess alt tab and telling me where to go is also gives me an unfair advantage over others...

Hopefully in the future NW devs will update the UI for several reasons. I personally don't need it. I just use my good old memory for all farming location paths I like to take be it oil, iron or whatever

You ever wonder why you only hear about Vanilla WoW having mods now? That is due to them being bannable at that time..... They arent going to retroactively ban someone from over 15 years ago, admitting they used addons NOW, when addons are allowed.

A kid got banned back in those days for using a G15 Logitech macro keyboard. So if you honestly think mods/addons were "allowed" you are sadly mistaking.

The people with the mods/addons, never disclosed that, just like CURRENT people wont give out the best mods. You never wondered why you cant get the mods you see on youtubers videos before? They arent released out to just everyone.

I love it when people condone wanton banning instead of a warning and then a ban if the warning is not heeded. That kind of heavy handed tactic really makes people want to come back and play.

I think Amazon is overestimating their own worth here, but what do I know, I'm just an idiot on a Steam discussion board.

The file is on github. You can see exactly what it does. It literally just screenshots your coordinates every second and uses OCR to read the coordinates and uses unity for the overlay. Nothing about it interacts with any game files.

You're right. We need to petition to disable the radar above our screen. It's an unfair advantage when another player sees a node to mine. Especially being able to see your party members in a mini map. OMG that is a massive advantage. We need to have them disable the ability to see group members on screen and know exactly how far they are.

Do you know how silly you sound? Aesthetics is not having an advantage. You do you, I do me. Don't worry what chair I sit on while playing New World. It doesn't give me an advantage.

You sound silly wanting things in a game that are not necessary, if you need a map so bad to show you where everything is there are live maps you can use with all the locations of nodes/animals/dungeons.

Just call them directly out and tell them to stream using the minimap. I bet you a thousand bucks, it shows hostiles if it shows party members..... The guy doesnt seem to understand the implications hes making just by saying how the one he is using works. However, you can never convince a cheater they are cheating, if they truly believe what they are doing isnt cheating....... bah

If you didn't think it was giving you an advantage in any way then you wouldn't be crying about not being able to use it... It allows you to see things that others can't. That would classify as an unfair advantage which is against their rules.
