I Would Like to Play the Game I Purchased
When I first bought New World, I had a lot of fun with it. Put in over 1,000 hours of playtime and got 68 out of 133 achievements. Like all games that I play too much I burnt out on it and set it aside back in September 2022 with a level 60 character on the Castle of Steel server.

I have an Intel Core i7 7th Gen 7700 (3.60GHz), 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB GDDR5. The game ran flawlessly on a 1080p monitor and looked gorgeous.

Fast forward to today with the same rig and monitor, and I am no longer able to play the game without the lowest of graphics settings and even then, there is a horrible stutter and freezing. The game is unplayable in this state. I have tried verifying game cache, reinstalling it, updating GPU drivers, etc. and nothing seems to change the situation.

I would like to play the game again, but purchasing a new gaming rig is not an option at the moment. I am going to sound like every other whiner on the Steam forums, but literally every other game I play has no issue with my rig.

New World however is a slide show.

Has anyone else experienced this? What if anything resolved it? Did the system requirements for the game drastically change since release?

Thanks –

Downgrade your video drivers.

Can I have your computer I mean stuff. I have a much lesser computer than yours and after the mount update all the problems you're having so is everyone else. What Changed? REALLY what changed. NOTHING. There coding just sucks balls. They say we a need SSD to fix all problems but others said that did not work for them. I have over 3k hours before the doomsday update, I will not upgrade my computer and If I did I would never play this POS game because how they screwed over so many players.

An SSD is pretty much essential now.

A modern PCIE 4 M.2 will run in a PCIE 3 slot and give you a big boost in disk speed, even if they don't hit their theoretical max.

8GB of video ram is also reaching the point of being bare minimum.

You should get one at level 100 for your mount.

This is exactly what happened to me. I reinstalled the game on the ssd disk, but it didn't help at all. It is unplayable for me in this state.

You seriously think a system that doesn't even support USB 3.2 or M.2 is going to perform better with a simple SSD upgrade? Maybe you thought the rest of the world upgrades every few years just for the fun of throwing away money. None of us like dropping thousands on new hardware. Unfortunately you keep up with the times or you get left behind. Otherwise you go the console route if PC gaming is not within your budget.

First he should be using old graphics drivers that were used when the game performed better. Newer drivers are not always a good thing for older hardware but few will listen to reason on this one. And upgrading the video card in his case would make a world of difference. Which is probably the single thing that would bring the most bang for the buck that could also be used if and when the rest of the components were upgraded. But every situation is unique sometimes it's a hardware bottleneck and sometimes it's too much crap running in the background. That's why consoles are so much easier for developers to make games for as every system is the same.

It doesn't make sense to buy a new PC at this time as the machine I have runs every other game I own just fine, plus the end of service date for W10 is not until late 2025. So, I am willing to wait a bit longer for price drops on what for me would be a three generation leap in GPU (1070 to 4070+). What I did do was buy a 32GB RAM kit and a 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD for less than $185 and that is the extent of what I am willing to throw at this rig in terms of an upgrade. Once I receive the parts and install them, I will reinstall New World on the SSD and report back if there is any improvement.

Anything in the 40 series is a total waste of money right now anyway. You are better off getting a 3070 TI or wait to see what the 40 series Super refresh brings. You get more cores, more memory and most importantly it's said to have a bigger memory bus.

GeForce RTX 4070 - AD104 - 5888 cores - 12GB 192-bit 21 GT/s GDDR6X
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti - AD104 - 7680 cores - 12GB 192-bit 21 GT/s GDDR6X
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super - AD103 - 8448 cores - 16GB 256-bit 22.4 GT/s GDDR6X

i5-12600k 4090 DDR5 32G The crash has been happening for 1-2 weeks and I can't play games. It's not a computer problem.

its very clear this studio cant code **** and the components almost fry at the startup, my whole group have 3080ti I9 10th gen and better but the game frame and crash all day from memory leak, cheap server here and there and i saw the wall coming with the "dlc" they milked the whole thing before it stop working from too much error in the code

Yeah i wanna play New World again so badly, i haven't played it in around a year.
But now every time i launch it, it crashes about 5-10mins into gameplay.

It's just gonna have to continue collecting dust... ~sigh

Doesn't crash for me on i9-12900H and 3070 ti laptop. So it must be something wrong with either your hardware or drivers. Anyone on a desktop of similar specs should get far better performance too.
