Games still killin gpus in 2023
Games Still killing GPU's in 2023, i'd avoid if your run a high end nvidia or amd card. I played everything from hogwarts legacy, baldurs gate, and starfield. most of the major titles of this year with 0 issues, I binge this game for 1 week and it kills my gpu (6900xt).
Just avoid it not worth it. Just a lil public service announcement here.

I got a 6950XT and nearly 200 hours put into the game. No issues. One crash that was solved after moving the game to my M.2.

Let me guess? You ran the game with uncapped FPS?!

Bout the only thing I gotta do is turn down my CPU power min/max in power settings to 90% to keep it cool. Keeps CPU temps down in the 50's. CPU will run 80+C if I don't do this. No idea why ive tried all in game settings to no avail.

GPU never had any temperature or usage issues. Running this on Gforce RTX 2060, definitely a budget type of graphics card.

Could be quite a few things, but this is always a wear and tear on a GPU and never should be done in any game. This always results in user end error.

I am still running this on a Gigabyte RX 5600 XT 6GB. Over 3K hours on it.

The game killed GPU's because the main menu ran uncapped, pushing the FPS up to like 4-8k depending on the system and how long you were in the queue screen. It revealed a flaw in one of the chip sets for a specific brand of nvidia cards. They fixed it by having the main menu capped on launch, but if a player decides to turn it off? Then they subject themselves to old familiat territory.

Your card like over volted and fried I guess?

My ASUS ROG lappy with 3070ti has never had any issues since release. I have even fallen asleep numerous times and forgot the game was running. Sitting there at full throttle pegged at 85C all night on the main screen with fans a blazing. Considering how limited the heat displacement a laptop has i'd say your card had issues from the start. There is no way a non defective full size card with fans actually spinning should burn up from hours of playing ANY game.

It seems to be user issue

Sounds like a user issue or hardware problem.

No doubt the game will put a put of heat on your GPU. HOWEVER, you can't blame the game on you're computers poor air flow.

RTX 3080, zero issues. Roughly 6k hours in game, never had a issue with a GPU.

Plus, the GPUs that it was supposedly killing, was the 3090...not a AMD. Turns out the 3090 had wide spread hardware faults.

Game didn't kill your GPU, you did.

lmao cases poor airflow. no oc, and card was on a waterblock and never got over 60c even in the most demanding of times. like i said every major title this year flawless. till this game. not to mention the half dozen cards the company I work for has rma'd specifically because of this game. like i said games not worth it. devs still haven't fixed the underlying problems, didn't optimize for ♥♥♥♥.

And adding more. YOu would wonder if the company OP works for knew this, the OP still played.

A story of someone who wants others to believe will always get grander and grander. LIke this.

First OP had a simple story and we knew it was a lie. SO they add cause they cannot cope with the reality.

bro.... ive had this same issue and am having to limit my cpu in the same way. if i dont it will hit 99c and not auto shut down. scared tf out of me. i am going to go buy a way better water cooler setup and see if that changes anything.

Alternatively, you could cap your frames?

The game uses directx as an API level between the game code and the GPU driver. The game physically cannot kill your GPU. It can only push your GPU, but if your GPU is healthy and without defects, pushing it will not kill it. Basically the game uncovered a manufacturing error in your GPU. It was already faulty, and it was going to die sooner or later.

you realize its MMOs are way more CPU intensive rather than GPU intensive right? especially with this type of MMO where theres actually really intensive and immersive graphics whereas most MMOs are cartoony and unrealistic right? i highly doubt its your graphics card rather than your CPU, it would also help if you put your computer specs inside your comment

6900xt with a waterblock and 5800x3d watercooled and 32g ram. For some reason this is the only game that stresses high end cards to the point of death. When I gave it to our rma guy at work he laughed and said "the number of cards I had to rma cause of that fking game" just sayin. game was fun, but very much not worth risking burning up another card.
