Bear in mind that there are a couple of occasions during the main quest line where it makes you find a group a do a 4 man dungeon, but these instances are few and far between and it's very easy to find a group and do these quests without any human interaction.
I've put over 400 hours into the game and I've never done any group activities whatsoever or PVP'd. I did buy the new expansion and got to level 65 before I got anywhere near finishing the quests that are available in the new expansion or those to be found the previous one, Brimstone sands.
I'm still nowhere close to max leveling my crafting and gathering skills. I'm nearly 70 years old so I might be a bit slower than most but I would say that there is plenty to do for a PVE solo player.
I haven't played New World as much as I used to a few weeks ago as I have recently started playing WOW and I'm currently having a lot of fun flying dragons around the Dragon isles and battling my way through Azeroth. :-)
I think this boils down to basically one of three options,
[1] They compare numbers to launch hype numbers any double digit decline is considered to be a dead / dying game.
[2] They quickly look on Steam Charts for the number one MMO and if a game is not within 0.1% than they consider it dead.
[3] They ran out of food and have wondered out from under the bridge to find more.
While the games number are not impressive this game does have a solid PvE experience if you enjoy crafting and solo play. This is actually where their three house system can be a nice little benefit as you can give each it's own style which would require a lot more resource gathering and crafting. OP did mention these things as an enjoyable benefit.
The game does have it's issues with PvP, Weapon Balance, etc. but that does not appear to be the focus of what is being looked for.
If you have not purchased the game wait to see it there is going to be a sale coming up soon (ie. end of the month) and also the DLC is not worth the current cost so would hold off on that also. While at least in my personal opinion.
The same expansion I was told was going to "Change Everything" and "Fix Everything" and "Save New World".
More people came back for free Brimstone then could be convinced to pay for an expansion. Also, since this game isn't subscription based that means any returning players only provide a profit for initial purchase and for the expansions. Someone coming back to the game doesn't necessarily provide a financial gain, and AGS is a greedy company. How much longer you think this can be justified? Also, New World cash shop items suck so I doubt those sales are doing gangbusters...
Also, you brought it up. Sales, that is the only other time this game has ANY increase in players...when its offered for 50%-60% off the initial price. So AGS can only sell the game if they slash the price in half. That's assuming the mixed reviews or bad reputation doesn't scare them off. The general discussion is filled with people complaining about random bans, YouTube has videos that people upload regarding these bans showing proof.
Whats the response from the community? "Suck it losers, you clearly cheated. Go delete yourself YOLO cope and seethe harder"
And before anyone makes the brain-dead argument that MMO's "Ebb and flow" or "rise and fall" with player numbers. The long term trajectory of the game is downhill, even when you include the small player bumps
Yeah, totally a successful game...
ags is planning crossplay with consoleplayers for expeditions nice thread necromancing btw.
Ags? What does that stand for 😝
Some dungeons can be soloed right now, you just need 2 more ppl to open them up.
HAHAHAHAHA 😂😂🤣🤣 imagine getting banned so quick for a "bragging post" ROLFLMAO
