Patching vs. redownloading the entire game
It takes me less than 30 minutes to download New World.

Latest patch (18 gigs) for example downloads in about the same time (for some reason DL speed when patching is about half). Then there's verifying and patching which can take 1-2 hours! Then sometimes it starts verifying/patching again. And sometimes it just loops this entire process until I stop it manually. (Manually checking/verifying files doesn't help.)

So for me it's at least 6x faster to uninstall the entire game and reinstall it completely after every patch. (PS. Yes I'm on an SSD and this is the only game that does this).

Is this the intended purpose?

To those with 1000 Games on Steam - play another one of your 999 Games while waiting for the patch to finish. Ok, irony, bragging and exaggerations aside now xD.
Something that you can try in case you have multiple libraries of Steam running on different Disks:
Steam will always download any patches / updates to whichever drive has the most free disk space. On my rig for example libraries are scattered about 4 drives - one being an SSD, the others to which I download all games and software in my library to store being HDDs - keeping them updated by Steam and moving the more "speed dependend" titles to the SSD whenever I wanna play them.
Assuming you are on Windows, what I did now was creating "junctions" from any "SteamLibrary\steamapps\downloading" folder to the downloading folder of the main SSD drive thus Steam will always download any update, temp files or game to that one drive first, regardless of which drive has the most free space and afterwards distributes the files to wherever you installed your Game. For a decent amount of titles this made a huge difference in Verify-and-Patching-Time, just give it a try ;-)

yeah..i was wondering about tht aswell.

- patch the entire file
- donwload update
- verivy update through the entire 83gb file...

maybe tht's why ssd is a must for this game. this is the only game tht i know u need an ssd for it. either it's bcoz of a trash code or trash coder....prolly both...
1-2 hours?
Took 9 minutes to dl.
For the verfyiening, i can't say the exact time, cuz i was doing some stuff around the house, but my guess is, it was in the neigborhod of 30 minutes.

Came here exactly to say this, I have a good internet connection and a M2 SSD, at this point it's faster to download the whole game because the patching process takes almost an hour while the download less than 15 min

my other steam game doesnt need to patch and verify the entire game file. just on the donwloaded file....unlike this nw

In many cases with games like THIS I found just redownloading the ENTIRE game was faster. But then that depends if they offer a fully patched version. Sometimes your screwed as it makes you patch everything from day ONE.

Did you even read the original post? I said this is the only game that has the problem. I've got about 1000 games on Steam. If you're not contributing to the discussion, why are you participating?

(I've had *similar* problems with other Steam games, but nothing as NEARLY bad as this (forever looping etc).

I have an SSD and still is slow as f0ck, maybe steam or AGS are droping the ball here, probably AGS because i have no problems with other games updating in steam.

The worst part is, AGS trying to kill my SSD during Installation.

Yea it's definitely a game.

Can confirm this is *not* a steam issue. Nor is it a hardware issue.

New World is the only game on any download service that spends HOURS verifying instead of about 45 minutes to just full-send reinstall from scratch.

When it is faster and easier to simply reinstall the game, your patching methodology is suspect and shows a massive pile of inexperience. AGS hiring the bottom of the barrel it seems.

Same here. It's faster for me to uninstall and re-download the entire game than to patch it.
When I update the game my SSD also freezes and is very slow. I only have this problem with New World.
