Worth getting into?
What the title says, I've always had a passing interest in the game and now its on sale and with the new xpac it seems like people are saying its in a pretty good place right now. Is it new player friendly?

I am wondering the same thing. I love MMO's, but the ones I'm currently playing are either slightly dead or really old.

Id say if you were interested this is the best time for new players. Gear is reset and the leveling has vastly improved. With the sale on both the game and expansion together, id recommend checking it out. You will get your moneys worth.

I say it is worth it on sale but not at regular price. Still has some issues but better than it was a year ago.

considering that it's a buy to play game and you can play it at your own pace, I'd definitely say this is a good entry into the mmo space.

Had the same doubts as you and I ended up buying it. So far it's been fun and pretty relaxed also. I haven't paid any attention to the story so I can't comment on that, but the mechanics around weapons are pretty interesting and you can play around with anything you want.
Also, like others have said, lots of new players around so it's probably the best time to get into it. You can start by getting the base game which is pretty cheap right now and then see if you think it's worth getting the new dlc.

lots of QOL changes made the game better. Hated it initially a few years ago, find a faction/company you like and get involved. You will have a MUCH better experience in group play. Don't shirk from PVP, there are amazing rewards for it even if you suck :D

As a new player do you think picking up the DLC is mandatory or can you kinda do without it until it would matter at high levels?
AltraWolf Oct 9, 2023 @ 9:17pm
Its not mandatory but you won't be able to use the new Mace weapon, you won't be able to get a mount at lvl 25 (game feels great having a mount now honestly), the new area is locked to you, and other stuff is mainly end game. But if you're just wanting to try the game before spending more on it then get it on sale and try it for 2 hours, an if it peaks your interest it's up to you on spending more or not.

If you intend to get the base game(despite the pages and pages of issues people have been expressing(not the just general criticisms), then there's no sense of urgency marketing you need to impose on yourself to get the dlc. Just play the game until you hit 60 to decide if it is for you or not and then get the dlc to progress further. Only other thing you really would not get is the mount or that one weapon access early which is wholly unnecessary to get. Weapon skills for example can be leveled at any time.

After playing for almost a week I can say for certain the game is really fun. In the first couple of hours you can feel the lack of some of the fun stuff from other mmo's like pets and more in depth character customization but it makes up for it in combat and world feel. The sound design is also fantastic and it has lots places to explore and really nice atmosphere. I can see me sticking around for some pvp and market simulation action for at least a month or two.

no, i regret buying this game, in early level you have very buggy quest, especially those bosses wont spawn in days, so ur quest cant progress, imagine that
eNotVeryHappy Oct 10, 2023 @ 2:55am
right now it's a no Some main quest can't even be finish because it bugged until they fix it you're not going anywhere and if you dont have time to sink dont

I am sure this thread will attract the negative people and if it does, check how many hours they've played against there comments. I like the game and have been playing since Alpha, sure it has had its ups and downs, bugs, crashes, but like all other games things get fixed and other mechanics break. Would I recommend this? Definitely. I've logged about 2000 hours and its enjoyable. Just remember to check where you want to play, some servers can't create new characters as the servers are full. Make sure you have the spec to run the game and more importantly since a lot of people have suggested this, make sure the game is running on an ssd. Im in Australia and play on the US West Leo, fairly low population, was on El Dorado and that place was maxed out, tons of players.
