that might be something to try. my brother has a similar system but plays on an hdd. he has more stuttering. I also have more ram but I would bet it's his hdd.

Modern games should be always installed on a SSD.
I have no problems with New World, not even today.

HDD aren't good for modern games

What worked for me was adjusting graphics to Medium at character select, and then one by one either increasing or reducing the graphics category. ie. Post filtering high, shadows low. That fixed it.

here everything was fine at 30 fps before the update on a low spec machine (game on SSD NVME M2), now the game freezes when a player approaches, runs fine when I'm alone with monsters. Unplayable in cities.

HDD are very slow. Put it on an SSD. and it will improve tremendously. Doesn't matter if you have a 3070 and a decent CPU if you trying to stream data at HDD speed. YOu will get long loading times and stuttering in game. and even freezing. Thats called the bottleneck.

Mines on an HDD and before Angry Earth I would get stutters and micro freezes mainly near towns but since update I get 5+ second freezes just about everywhere that have resulted in one death and 3 or more close calls. It is the update that has made the game worse for some of us.

The game also would stop responding during loads and my task bar would pop in and out of the game screen but has since been fixed since the latest server reset.

And the Season pass won't let me access the Cards or Journey the first time I log into the game. I have to log out to menu and back in to be able to access them. Still happening at this point so not fixed.

I have been in the process of upgrading my PC though since it is time to get a couple of SSD's. One for my OS and one for my games and UE5. I'm upgrading everything this time around but mainly so I can start working on my own UE5 game that my current rig wouldn't allow smooth execution of the BP/codes.

Games nowadays need an SSD and they are cheap now so I'd have him upgrade. New World is the first game I've had any problems running whether it was on high or low settings so I took that to mean that this was probably what games will be like in the future.

I have the game on a hdd and before the expansion had zero issued with lag / stutters / freezing with 450 hours in the game.

Since the expansion I can't move several feet without stutters and freezing.

Don't tell me my problem is because I don't have the game on a ssd when it used to run perfectly fine on my hdd before the update.

Same problem here. The game is unplayable after the update and you can't even refund the DLC :-(

Mine is on an SSD and I am getting tons of lag spikes on the server I'm on with ping reaching upwards of 500ms or higher and the game freezes up.

This is still an issue that I'm having. It's been going on for so long that I just gave up playing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this so many times, verified the integrity of the files- made sure that I have More than enough specs to run this game, optimized it on Razer Cortex- updated all my drivers and Gforce drives. I have and here are all the specs of my PC from "can you Run it"

---Video Card---
Minimum: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 3GB / AMD Radeon RX 590
You have: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
---Dedicated Video Ram---
Required: 3072 MB
You have: 12 GB
---CPU---
Minimum: Intel® Core™ i5-10500 @ 3.10GHz / AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
You have: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600KF
---RAM---
Minimum: 8 GB
You have: 16 GB
---OS---
Minimum: Windows® 10/11 64-bit
You have: Windows 11
---Free Disk Space---
Minimum: 100 GB
You have: 2.5 TB (SSD: And with this game installed I STILL have 756GB free space.)
---Download/Upload speeds from Speedtest.net---
Download: 714.81mbps/940mbps (Kinda slow today)
Upload: 46.99mbps

There does not seem to be a fix- period. If anyone else has any suggestions, please post them here. SSD and HDD do not make a difference as I have also tried swapping between an external 3TB HDD with the same issue. Everything is updated. Worked fine enough that I was able to get 348 hours logged onto it. Now it's so unplayable that when I move, I can be stuck for upwards of 20 seconds before it loads, if it does, and then rinse and repeat.
