Once I decided to eventually do group stuff I started doing it. I started joining invasions and only very recently started doing dungeons. I think it's a you thing.
cheers
Group content is not required for a mmorpg, though obviously a good idea. Yes, it's a part of the genre, but the only requirement for a mmorpg is the mm o part. That being, Massively Multiplayer Online = MMO. Everything else after that is a bonus.
In other words, mmo's can be group driven or solo driven or both. There is no standard outside of the massively multiplayer online part. I've played MMO's in-which I've never seen another player, and I've played mmo's where as we're all able to see each other, which is the typical mmo build. So I simply have to disagree with you OP, and urge you to stop requiring that the Guild Wars 2 formula be in every MMO.
Up to you of course.
As for myself, I simply accept a mmo for what it is - play it if it's what I'm looking for, and don't if it isn't. There's plenty of mmo's in the sea after all.
Back in tabletop times in one of the few groups one would talk differently or in case of my buddy and me actually act our characters on our turn like f.e friendly nudging when playing dwarves or the one acting elegant as a squire and the other one a brutish barbarian who had a love hate relationship like Mr. T and Murdock from the A-Team.
I have been playing in one or the other off- and online "RPG" and have rarely seen stuff like that.
