Yall crying over 30 dollars
First off, the fact that people havnt even seen what the expansion looks like in its full form and already crying should give you an idea on how much people want attention. Every MMO locks massive amounts of content behind expansion pay walls but if new world has the audacity to put one up for 30 bucks (much cheaper than other expansions youll find), brokies and free loaders will start a riot.

News flash: no ones forcing you to pay $30 to play the game, you can continue playing without the content if you please. If youre genuinely upset about this, you should find a job instead of playing new world full time. Or maybe educate yourself on how much creating and maintaining a game costs before you start crying about how they didnt give you handouts for free (even though new world continues to give you major content updates for free)

grow up.

Game is already buy to play, so charging another money for dlc that should be just regular content update, is kinda lame. If game was free to play, it would be different. Im really tired of companies charging for things that should be free. Dlc's are just cash grab. If you buy game, you should also get all future content for free. Thats it.

I don't get how they justify selling this as an expansion. Brimstone got us up to 50-60k players. If they're seriously think they're going to get anywhere close to that with a $30 paywall for progression idk what to tell you. You will lose access to mutations and own less game on October 4th than you did the day before, unless you buy the Expansion, even with the $89 dollar azoth edition (which really should include everything)

excuse me? The game is already buy to play and youre complaining about a paid DLC? In a market where all other successful competing games are subscription based or blatantly P2w? Thats great that you feel in a perfect world games shouldnt charge additional to the sale price but thats not how live service games work

World of Warcraft, arguably the greatest MMO in history has been buy to play, paid expansions, plus a monthly subscription of $15 for 19 years now. If you cant afford $30 without a subscription, that even if you only got 30 hours of game time out of and get bored, it comes to $1/hr, please tell me another form of entertainment that costs $1 per hour? Stop gaming if you think $30 is a lot of money for an expansion, do yourself a favor and get a more affordable hobby for your lifestyle.

Ill play devils advocate, my wife plays some dumbass mobile game every day and probably has 5000 hours in it. Never spent a dime, never mind $1/hr.

I agree with you though ill be catching this xpac. It beats a sub fee. The reason I don't play wow is the sub fee, and its not an affordability problem - its a personality problem I have. If I pay a sub fee for something, I feel compelled to use it as much as possible to get max value out of it. I can't help it. So I just avoid sub fees or I end up ignoring all my other games.

Hey free is always better, and 5000 hours of free enjoyment is incredible, I wish this was free too, but its not so all in all, $30 is not a lot of money for the amount of hours you could get out of it. If someone cant get their $30 worth of enjoyment out of this then there are thousands of other great games out there for $30 (some subjectively better than NW). If they cant afford it, get a cheaper hobby. I don't get mad at car part manufacturers for making race cars too expensive for me to make a hobby out of racing cars every weekend even though i love them, I just found a hobby within my wallet limit.

The point is that a $30 expansion isnt something you throw a fit over. Not to mention youre comparing a mobile game to a AAA pc game and throwing in uncommon situations. I persoanlly cant think of a free game right now that I would play for 5k hours, so I guess this doesnt apply to me? enjoyment has nothing to do with this.
I put over 2k hours while spending a total of 60 dollars on new world, that comes out at around 3 cents/hour.. are you really gonna start arguing over 3 cents? probably not. people complain because thats their default any time something related to new world comes out.

I've bought just 2 new games in the last 18 months.
There are no current games I have any interest in buying.
Only games I might buy are 2-5 years away.

$30 is barely 3 hours work at minimum wage

$30 for a half assed expansion. Monthly sub on top. What's getting monetized yet for next to no effort? You're rewarding the limited effort and improvement this game has seen over 2 years.

AGS simply has no sense of reasonable monetization.

Buy to Play and Season Pass is okay
Then they took away the original Transmog and replaced it with something based on RNG with the option of Transmog tokens that cost quite a bit.

Now they take away an area that has existed since release, including all upgrades and progress to replace it and put it including mounts behind a 30€ paywall instead of creating a new area and linking it to the world.

If I had not already turned my back on the game, this would definitely be the end.

How you can defend something like this is beyond me, no normal player in his right mind can approve this.

Apart from that I doubt that the story and content that is delivered is worth the 30€ at all.
GW2 last addon brings for 25€ equal times to a multiple more content and game still modern.

My opinion is that this game is going to die. It has already lost a lot of players, just look at the server load and it will get worse. It's not about the $30, it's about the principle. Because many people have stopped playing, they are losing money and now it is necessary to get it back somehow. This is just my opinion.
Kaiga Aug 30, 2023 @ 10:08pm
This expansion is the end of new world. New players will not pay $70 for a game with horrible reviews and a 10k active playerbase. Returning and existing players will not pay $30 to be sold back the endgame content they used to have before the expansion, and a seasonal update that delivers less content than brimstone (which was free)

I mean they could start putting efforts into making a good game instead of making it worse and pissing more of their remaining player base off while scaring away potential customers.

Trying to poverty shame people is a p**s poor foundation for an argument.

I'm sure there are many players, who are unhappy about this, in a far more financially secure position than whatever it is you think you've got going on.

Not everyone monetises every aspect of their spare time. Personally, it seems like a pretty sad way to experience your life. Myself, I determine the value of my spare time based on it's quality. This is time for recreation, be that independent hobbies or spending time with the people I love. There is no monetary value that can be ascribed to that.

So if I'm engaging in an activity, and it is poor quality, then it is poor value. So I can choose to spend my time doing other things that make me happy. And I will. But I won't pretend that I think this game is good value, regardless of whether it cost $30 or $300, because it isn't good quality and it hasn't been since launch.

Youre right, i love having a house, they should make them $10 so everyone can afford one. Nobody is poverty shaming anyone, but if you cant afford something, do something else, grow up.
