Why does the game run so bad?

I got Win10, gtx 970, fx 8350 and 16GB
I looked it up and even watched benchmarks and videos from people playing with those exact or very similar specs. I run the game on lowest and it still takes minutes to load in a town, loading screens take forever and even some skills are not displayed when cast.

Seems to me like something is off here

You need to tell people what settings and resolution you are playing in if they are to be able to have a chance of helping

If you have a regular HDD instead of an SSD, this will increase load times alot. In cities, my fps drops to the 30s. With a mix of high and low settings at 1440p. Gtx 1080ti and i7 7700k. Outside of cities it's anywhere from 60-100fps. But yea sounds like you're not using an SSD and if not that... it's the not so great optimization of the game. Even the video cards that aren't 7 years old don't fair so well.

My laptop is a i9 13th gen with 32gb ram running a rtx 4080 gpu and it still runs like ♥♥♥♥.

Running all nvme drives too still ♥♥♥♥
Game is ♥♥♥♥. Runs terrible on everything.

I so understand you... this game is total crap. I had to let it go and stop playing it because the patch ruined everything. Its still full of bugs.. and the loading screen are crazy long.. Its not a matter if you install it on SSD or not.. I tried on both and the difference in time was not so much. So this mean that the game is made with bad coding..super heavy and glitchy dont waste ur time on this game.. I wanted to try something new after 5 years of ff14 but.. Im now back to play ff14 , way better

They have a lot of forced graphics options, such as TAA, that are globally applied and force enabled for everyone. Options like these don't really play well with older hardware. Here's to hoping that they expand the number of graphics options available to the end user.

Sorry to say this. But those amd fx processors do not cut it when it comes to games anymore. Also that gtx is most likely on its last leg. All in all you need a bran new pc. Also even though you have 16gb of ram you are most likely still using ddr3. That’s no bueno.

First of all laptops have much less performance due to less power. And the 4080 is a trash card as with the 40 series as a whole. They were designed to work best with upscaling using AI in games that support this. Secondly that card and processor combo is probably throttling unless you run an external laptop cooler. If the laptop is sitting flat on a desk forget about getting any real performance from it. As for your desktop it could be a crappy driver or even malware impacting your performance. But yes the game is demanding due to the quality graphics that the majority of other games just don't have. Tis why older MMO's like WOW went for lesser detailed design that could run on ancient systems. If you want to play ancient games on ancient hardware this unfortunately isn't it. And if the game runs bad on newer hardware it's probably crappy thermals or low end components.

Laptop has way better specs than my PC way outperforms it in every single way. Timespy scores are near double. I have a laptop cooler I use it runs hot just like every laptop sure it throttles I use it out when I'm working trucker life... It's a pretty damn good PC replacement if you need mobile lol. The 4080 is trash? Trash compared too? It's a pretty good upgrade from 30 series... What card do you recommend then? Because there is nothing that can fix the ♥♥♥♥ performance you will get in wars opr and just running around the world in general. You can put the graphics to low that's it.

It's so dissapointing seeing good hardware go to waste by people who game very casually. Learn how to optimize a PC. My 3060Ti runs this game (1440p medium) with a 115-130 fps average in open world. And then in towns like WW or BS, when there's 200 ppl in the same town, I get 45-60 FPS. All receptacle frames for a fairly good looking mmo.

Might help:
NVIDIA Control Panel needs tweaking, cooling might need work, optimal video settings must be figured out by Trial and Error, background resolution/refresh rate matters, etc. alot of micro management for PC gaming.

Heat and the physics of semiconductors. Until they make graphics cards liquid cooled integrated systems you are going to have a heat bottle neck in the GPU.
