NW is my first MMORPG and after just being just disappinted about how end game players understand the learning curve of others I am now rather amused. But I have my people in the background and if I want to run tempest I just need 2 randoms at most. With more than that I just won't.
Besides that I begun to open lobbies where I ask for voice chat right away and declare it beginner friendly to help out those upcoming adventurers. I insist on players telling me "if they know" e.g. about the pillars in Ennead end arena o the mechanics of Genesis second boss. of course I ask the insiders to be patient while I babble. But I get the thanks in the end, what tells me that there is a demand.
Sometimes I do speed runs of Genesis in about 12 min, sometimes I am more than one hour in there with "noobs" below 600 until they get the mechanics. And both is very satisfying.
And I hope not to have missed the point.
The best advice I can give you is to be the change you want to see. Host groups that are newbie friendly, where even if you fail an expedition, you'll all get gear score upgrades and some more experience. And the players who are trying to learn the mechanics and raise their GS will flock to you and you won't have to deal with being insulted or berated by people who are just their to clear the expedition and get loot.
TL;DR: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ are everywhere, so it's best to not let them get under your skin. You'll find good people to run with in time.
I suspect you are right about the speed running. Whether they have "experience" with the mechanics or not, they don't care, they just want to do it fast. Quite possibly a power-levelling scheme.
This sort of thing is more and more prevalent in many games now. People get tired of grinding the same dungeon and just push high dps to overcome mechanics.
It's the worst I've seen in ESO where they literally just rush from boss to boss. When they can, they just rush to the end boss because that's all you need to clear the dungeon and get the group finder special reward.
Whether you like it or not, the math supports it.
For example, it is faster to get faction tokens in LOW level zones. Higher level zones give more tokens per successful mission, but it's slower and more tedious just to walk to the quest area for example. Whereas if you are high-level already you can one-shot everything in a lowbie zone and finish more quests per unit time for more faction tokens per unit time.
I'm used to tab target old school MMOs that didn't really have "mechanics" to know or mess up. They were just more straight forward. Plus people people in games years ago were not as hateful, had more patience and everyone played at a slower pace. I have seen people get trashed and shamed in global cause they didn't know what they were doing, get kicked out of groups so I'm like "nope, never going to do that."
So now, just today I am consider quitting the game cause in my world the game is done. After I run a few daily things, craft abit run ore routes I just stand around town and think" gee, what do I do now."
