Sorry, just very irritated I may have wasted $20 if I don't fix this soon. They should've just said Min Memory is 16gb because if it's doing this on 8GB Memory, then they can clearly get caught up in lying since someone on their dev team doesn't seem to know how Memory works.
since you won't even tell me the gpu i'm guessing it doesn't even have one aside from the onboard
can't run the game on that
And just for good measure this is what the log is saying:
[2022-12-30 T13:34:13] AGS NewWorld MinSpec Failure Log
This computer fails to meet one or more of the minimum required specifications in order to run New World successfully.
Minimum needed: Installed: Pass/Fail
Memory: 7692 MB 7545 MB (2316 MB free) Fail
VRAM: 1548 MB 6103 MB Pass
OS: Windows 7, Windows 10 Windows 10 64 bit (build 10.0.19045) Pass
Please check the failure log to further determine what minimum requirement is failing.
by what the log says, even if I stop every single non-essential process, I STILL would not be able to play it, DESPITE the game saying it needs minimum of 8GB Ram on their website
What a third party app says is inconsequential. What the app itself says, matters.
Especially since RAM cards only come in multiples of 4. There's not in between of 8GB and 16GB unless you would have 3 4GB cards.
It's not the processes that are taking up available ram , it's hardware that is taking up some RAM , my bet is that your onboard GPU is taking up some ram , you can try to disable the onboard GPU in the bios setting and set the memory reservation to min , maybe that will free up enough.
if not then you are out of luck unless you upgrade the memory to 16gigs
Secondly, all of the processes running on my laptop are the default processes I can't even remove. My GPUs software, my CPU's processes, my mouse's software, the Alienware command Center(I've tried removing it and I can't but it's default with my laptop), all the Dell processes.
They're all running because that have to, so no i'm not really missing the point. outside of steam, right this secondI'm running my laptop on idle and i'm getting 4.3GB/7.4GB used memory.
I said this over and over though, I will NEVER have 8GB of RAM available on an 8GB RAM card. Your max of usage will ALWAYS be lower, and it states on my laptop that my max usable is 7.4, BUT all of the essential processes at taking up 4~GB of that.
16gb was the go to like 10 years ago, now for the last few years 32gb has been the go to for a lot of modern titles. hell there's some games now with 64gb recommended.
You will not be able to play with those specs, if you can get it to run you will have appalling lag and stutters with probably less than 30 fps. and thats if this game was optimised well, which it is not.
they should change the minimum requirements to hardware that can pull at least 60 fps because that is barely playable for an enjoyable experience, but they base them on like 30fps.
get a refund while you can.
we said it over and over , 8gig is 8192MB installed BEFORE BOOT , Hardware is taking 647MB of your installed ram towards hardware.
AGAIN , it makes no difference if you free up memory because your BIOS is allocating RAM towards a piece of hardware dropping your INSTALLED RAM to below min spec.
My bet is that it is the onboard GPU.
You are confusing INSTALLED with USABLE / FREE memory.
you FAIL the test because your INSTALLED memory is below 7692MB , that's what the game looks at , not USABLE memory.
What's ridiculous is to expect to run modern titles with 8 GB of ram. 16 GB is needed, and that might not even be enough to be comfortable to run other apps on the side at the same time.
