Go to genesis expedition and do the 1st boss run for the grind fyi
If glancing at the LFG chat every now and then is too hard, I am not sure what to tell you.
yeah new world does suck for solo players, its why i just farm, its really the only enjoyable thing
the end game loop is pvp
if others complain about grinding its just bad roleplaying from passionless lazy gamers that limit their cursed toon.
your toon has nothing better to do as to become stronger to become less depended from other support thats not grinding that is duty and sacrifice and thats an honor.
Mastering any weapon for flexibilty is a nobrainer its an opportunity to explore alternative tactics or playstyles to chose for yourself.
you should not chose to play solo for to get an easier or quicker route.
you should chose to play solo to avoid of getting bored while following a metagame that is created to get picked withing groups with overspecialized roles others have created to get smooth dungeon runs skipping most challenges just to loot more for lesser efforts.
if you like to play solo their is no need to easier find teams and you can easily raise gearscore alone until your gearscore will grant you invites to groupcontend that cant be done alone later.
Doing hard things may get you killed more often but you can respawn eager for revenge just stop complaining ,but first need to defeat your toons worst nemesis the bored lazyness of a effective gamer with no heart for roleplaying.
A true hero needs to do hard things that seams to be impossible for peasents or better relax finding others to get carried if not playing idle browsergames instead.
I agree only because i find myself in the same situation. Starting on a fresh server with a different mindset on how to play the game with a new char, i started doing each zone to 100% before moving forward. "Delaying" some main story quests got me to 60 with only completing 3 of the starting zones. Currently tons of PvE content left to enjoy, playing around 2-4 hours/day will give me "the delay" until new content is pushed out.
Each individuals desire to insert thousands of hours in games (MMO's especially) is great and treachery, if the game is not old enough with tons of content (ESO for example) then i am sorry, but at some point you will stop playing(take a break) and come back at a later time.
Following content/guides on a specific game also reduces the amount of time to reach the "end" of a game. try to avoid watching such content and your gaming experience will be totally different then blindingly following a guide. All the you achieve is to max your character and then ask the devs for the impossible.
I've gotten most expertise out of the Gypsum orbs, can buy 2 daily ones at the faction trader aswell.
I was actually surprised compared to last year how easy it has become to get expertise up, you can do it either in OPR, Gypsum, Daily dungeons, Mutateds, and obviously the boring chest runs. If I get bored of one thing I just swap game modes.
My Highest Level ( I play 3 different toons in 3 different regions, all 60) is 60 with GS of 595ish. I got that gear score with little effort, no group finding, no expeditions, no PVP.
Buy some good 600 gear in the Trading Post for all slots and start from there.
Just do your daily run with the Potion (I forget the name) for 10 Amber Gypsum, Loot 6 Gift Stashes (or whatever they are called) at the Trees in town for the 6 Diamond Gypsum. Kill named mobs for purple gypsum. Harvesting, Skinning, Mining, and other skills you have above 200 to get Emerald Gypsum. Convert all these the Gypsum Orb's then into weapons and armor to raise expertise. Also buy the 2 Gypsum Orbs Daily from Faction Vendor.
Join Chest runs, these are fun and will give you many expertise upgrades and some items you will use. Tradeskilling I understand offers more paths, but I only just got Engineering to 200 so not sure on that.
All of these things I have done are easy and will get you above 600. It does take time, anyway you do it. I will learn the rest when I get there. Having to much fun doing what I can do now, and there is so much more to do.
I do join groups when I can briefly, when in an area and invited, but I do not seek them out do to RL reasons. But I find they are there if you look.
