- The faction thing is constantly changing so don't worry about that.
- As far as house size, it used to be a bigger deal because of the larger storage capacity by placing more storage chests. That was before you could access any town storage from any other town so it's not so much a concern anymore.
- Taxes aren't really an issue anymore either so the once downside of BIG houses getting huge tax bills isn't a problem either.
- If you really like the house decorating aspect by all means do get a BIG house. If you just want the fast travel and trophy slots a small one will do.
- I find it helpful to have houses where in places that you frequent anyway. Your preferred crafting town, access to gypsum forge, bonus resources from faction control ( such as daily food cart in Reekwater )
- In the end it doesn't matter because with the almost free fast travel these days once you travel to house you can bounce to any other town at any time. So it comes down to which town and house in that town you like the most.
i think my biggest house is like 220gc a week , it's really nothing to worry about.
Great answer! I just want to add a few things. Get the Big one IMO, that will maximize your 50% discount. Controlling faction is not really an issue currently.
I think they will have more changes in the future as to how factions can control areas. In any case having the Large House at 50% discount seems the best move.
This probably seems like a lot of gold but as you progress you will gain gold more easily.
Later on, especially if you want to make large amounts of gold you will need three of the largest houses.
The 20k Everfall house is IMO the best house in the game. It's location is directly across from the trading post in the heart of the town.
Being close to the trading post means you wouldn't need to walk encumbered very far to sell things on the TP.
