Still unbearable latency
So, when the game launched, and idiot-me ofc bought it, it was nigh unplayable for me. I had immense spikes in input latency, up to straight out 500ms staying for 2h.

Today I thought "hey, lets give it a shot again!". Yep. Server response is around 20ms, connection in Main Menu shows green. Connection speed is as epxected, no big drops.

Yet, the input latency STILL spikes to 500ms in fairly regular gaps, keeping the game unplayable. Dodging, blocking or hitting enemies in combat like this is impossible.

So... I guess still no New World for me. But for sure the last AGS game I ever bought.

If someone knows a possible fix, please let me know.
I already have all drivers/OS up to date. The FPS are fine and stable at 40-50 in towns, so its not that. As stated, my Internet connection shows no significant drops - neither during a ping -t, nor during a normal speedtest. Other games run FINE. I can with a nigh 100% safety say it's not on my end.
Still, maybe it is, and someone knows some dark secrets.

You could try PingPlotter to make extra sure its not your connection.

My latency is good. Where do you live and what is your provider?

This was the dark-internet-magic I was talking about. I think I nailed it down. My WLAN seems to sporadically have a heart-attack and spikes a total loss.

Though I still wonder why the physical location for a server, which the game says is a EU server, is located in effing OREGON! But I guess that's AGS logic.

Thank you good sir, you made my day!

They will never fix the lag or they would have done it until now. The PvP is not playable at higher lvl.

I stopped playing because of this. You grind for nothing.

As I said, I was able to narrow the problem down to my wireless. I already ordered a Powerline adapter and will see, it should fix that issue. Because that is as of now the only issue I have with the game so far.

my issue with the game is just generally high latency at 90-100ms, which is double what i get with servers in the same area in other games unfortunately. only thing that holds me back from actually playing.

Did you put your wifi router in a faraday cage?

:'D

No, it actually sits on a small cupboard, pretty exposed. I don't actually know why it does that to be honest.

Same issue, i thought i was the only one. I was blaming my ISP all this time then i noticed latency spikes only happen when i play the game. http://ping-test.net I use this ping tester when not playing the game or when playing something else, and the latency doesn't spike, its normal.

Then i try it again when playing new world, every 5-20 seconds i get massive spikes from 400 ms up to 2000ms making the game unplayable for 3-5 seconds till it recovers.

OP give the ping tester a go and let me know if you have similar issues.
What now? i rly want to play the game but this becomes unbearable

I used PingPlotter which the first person to answer suggested. It actually showed my WiFi spiking off to 100% Packet Loss ever so often. Though it was not only for New World, just it was most noticeable there. Which is strange, since I play i.e. Deep Rock here and there, and while people mentioned I'd have strange hiccups, it was never as bad as in NW.

As mentioned, I got myself 2 DLan Adapters. Plugged them in and tested 2 days ago. Worlds better.
