Is heavy armor obsolete in this game for PvE/PVP?
title, I am wondering because it looks cool and I would like to be a tank for PvE/PVP but I've read in global chat its useless which seems ridiculous for an MMO..

After the Brimstone Sands update, heavy has become more viable. Many are upset about light nerfs though.

I play a PvE tank constantly. Mostly solo. I do survive much better now than before the patch. Tanking many elite mobs in the new zone easy.

Yeah s+S and heavy armor was my favorite but after people told me heavy armor sucked in pvp etc I was put off from playing the game for a long time.. I never liked the min-maxing meta of having to wear all light armor to be able to do the fun stuff. It's good to see changes are being made at least.
I never follow meta. I enjoy what I do. Makes my time ... My time.

Im not a Meta follower either and like to try to survive going with an underdog setup... Makes it a fun challenge.

light armour is all there is ..its a shame
watch the 2 last dev streams..they talk about it and fixing shields and heavy armour
appartently there is a few slight changes in PTR ...where testing begins on the new armour tweaks..
so there is armour changes in the works.... also to change light armour ..every one just rolls around
weapon changes are also in the works especially for pvp

Light armor is death in PvP right now unless you are musket or bow. Getting hit while wearing light armor causes a 1.5sec slow and lowers your roll distance by 20%.

The people that were rolling endlessly weren't light armor users, they were dex based rapier users with light armor. Everyone that wears light armor got nerfed to fix rapiers...

You’re behind a patch, light armour just got nerfed hard.

Light armor is only good for range or assasins build with burst and run style or for PVE only max dps. Medium or Heavy is more viable for pvp now.

I think they should have nerfed bow and musket instead of doing a huge nerf on everybody wearing light. Or fix the rapier and turn it into what it should have been in the first place: a great duelist weapon, and not an escapist weapon

I couldn't agree more. There are specific elements creating the problem and those need addressing.

The worst bit is muskets and bows aren't really impacted in PvP because they attack at massive range. The slow and reduced rolls effect people in close(melee)/medium range(casters). Everyone else using it got shafted if their builds didn't hand out extra mobility like the Dex tree does.

It's not like anyone was claiming FS was OP because of light armor. I guess casters should use heavy now lol? I don't know.

Depends what weapons you like really. I prefer heavy as a battle mage and it still slaps in PvP /PvE just hafta work harder and be better than skitzos.
