Life Staff / Hatchet
Sword N Shield Defiance Stance weapon swap into Hatchet is a decent build for farming groups of enemies. But that would work with any weapon swap into something.
That wasn’t my list I just used it as an example. I’m still fairly new on NW. Trying to use this discussion to find my main build.
What do you think is best for PVE/PVP between FS+IG and Bow+Spear?
dont worry about him, bow can only oneshot those with 5 con and light armor + no resilient perk you also need to use heavy attack and headshot.
if you are good with both then the FS+IG build would likely get you more Kills as its more effective in AOE while the Bow is your only source of dmg at medium range it losses out when the spear is doing nothing and getting close to a good player using FS/IG is not very easy with Burnout and the massive CC from IG + you hit much more with mage weapons than with Bow unless you rocking Pro tier aiming, so at similar skill level the FS/IG wins against Spear+Bow, current Bow does not have much burst dmg unless you use the triple shot skill and even then the delay between auto and abilities is super slow post 1.1, there is also the ADS bug which can bug you out at times.
my list is based on usability at low skill and how effective they are being used by newbies to get results in PVP, as for PVE any weapon can do its job just be careful from the hit detection for bosses which is atrocious at times.
SS Tier: Life Staff
S Tier: Warhammer, Hatchet, Void Gauntlet
A Tier: Gaxe, Sword and Shield, Ice Gauntlet
B Tier: Fire Staff, Musket, Rapier, SPear
C Tier: Bow
due note that there are Troll builds that are super effective in PVP to a point they seem kinda broken = Void Gauntlet + IG, SnS + IG = Ice Spike troll builds can one shot majority of players.
that's probably the combo that will get the next nerf bat though.
oh and light armor sucks, dont' touch that.
ah, i should mention, that's the current meta gist of things. i'm greataxe sword for tanking funs. though hammer/sword seems more popular. i want gaxe so i can open world a bit more fun.
if peeps just reading to see what they can roll early on, well things have been mentioned. but greataxe/hatchet works quite well for open world stuffs.
A tier = Ice / Void
B tier - life staff
C tier - Great axe / sword / hammer
it does make a difference. i mean, the content most people do they can lifestaff/void gauntlet dominate everything. except 1 mode.
ah nm, opr. maybe. from what i've seen most can't even counter a capture vs a ls/vg
the Gaxe has too many things going for it, if you can find a semi perfect weapon then this would be it, you want to catch someone then use Charge, you want to hold someone then use Gravity well, you want to drag them then use Reap, you want AOE then use maelstrom, it has everything but throwing the weapon at enemies, no other weapon is as versatile as Gaxe while still having great power.
weapons do need tunning but Gaxe is not one of them. the Hatchet needs the right side of the tree twerk and left side of the tree re-balanced, berserk tree is too OP it needs some of that power remove and balance to other abilities in terms of the most single OP ability in the game Berserk wins by a landslide= HP Renegeration to 30%, Haste 20%, Grit, Lunge, Dmg 20%, some of that awesomeness should be transfer to other skills to get some versatility going for hatchet.
Ice gauntlet needs to be fix, the ice abilities cause freezes and lag, the desync makes it even worse, the Ice spike might be nerf in power due to people exploiting it with CC via SnS or Void Gauntlet.
Fire staff is fine where it ism little twerks here and there
The Musket is fine but needs a counter weapon because nobody can touch it from long range.
The Hammer while incredibly annoying needs its CC re-balanced the lag makes it extremely OP and why do we have AOE CC again.
the Rapier is fine its a mobility weapon, people complain about riposte but its easy to dodge and counter it. the Bleed side is decent but nobody uses it other than Fleche and Evade are also mobility abilities.
The Spear is strong due to enhancements and is fine where it is, the bleed can be annoying as it can literally take 70% of your health with a single attack.
the bow needs to be re-balanced for Fluidity because half the time it bugs out and feels like crap to play, ADS bug, Delay between auto and abilities,. the dmg is high but the aiming requirement are high anyone saying otherwise or that has problems with it dont play Bow and when they do they understand and go back to their usual set up.
the Life staff needs to be completely remade from scratch.
The Void gauntlet abilities are a little to high and needs nerf and rebalancing.
