Same, anytime I saw videos of the game it looked like it was still in alpha. My bet is they have used up all crowdfunded cash and refuse to work for free.
All that is left now of the player crowdfunded era is star citizen.
You mean Albion Online, Elite Dangerous etc.. Star Citizen still hasn't been released, so its vapoware as far as im concerned.
Kinda funny this sounds EXACTLY what happened to ' Shroud of the Avatar '.. trying to go on your own platform is always a recipe these days for failure.. I wonder what the reqs for a free to play to be listed on steam is these days.. At least you can get exposure here. Though for something like SoTA it was too late, they screwed the pooch far too deep for that..
An yeah AO, an ED to a lesser degree count.. Though AO is still relatively new so we have to see how long it keeps going.. Kinda sad to filter by MMO.. an mostly you get FPS.. or a derth of defunt. asian mmos no on plays..
Like $100 to release a game on steam. heh
Do not mention ' Shroud of the Avatar'. Steam user rating of 64% and average of 50 person on at any time.
Was into that from the beginning. One of the biggest ripoffs on Steam.
I put it up there with the likes of StarForge.
Those developers really took people for a ride. They developed many techniques as to how to milk the whales that other developers now use.
Anyone want to buy a castle for a few thousands dollars, etc.?
And how about a town. On sale at the moment, reduced down to $10,500/
In 2017 they were asking people to Invest $30,000 ($33,000 in 2021) in Shroud of the Avatar to get a golden castlehttps://www.pcgamesn.com/shroud-of-the-avatar-forsaken-virtues/shroud-of-the-avatar-crowdfunding
Shroud of the Avatar was to be the first chapter of five chapters (as the developers put it) but somehow the other four chapters never appeared.
Even the promised single-player experience lies forgotten and unfinished, regardless of all those years and all that money.
They had no shame in their actions to raise money. Well, how else can they enjoy their comfortable lifestyles.

It's exactly what you want!
A colossal failure!
And another Open PvP MMORPG 'Pathfinder Online' just closed it's doors after lack of interest by the public.
Not taken sides, but the history is there for all to see, including Amazon, that PvP is a niche style of play in a MMORPG setting and not many developers get it right. But certain developers seem to ignore history and follow in what is effectively very risky footsteps. Getting it right is a lot harder then many think.
Naa... they were just poorly designed games, in a market with other similar games that have much better PvP systems.
History disagrees with you.
Seems like the toxic is on both sides.
