A creative can only do so much with substandard materials.
Why would you random on items BOP? Everything worth randoming on are all bind on pickup haha.
If they don't want any form of gambling in their game then that is in their right to stop people from doing it. This is not a gambling game. Nor is it advertised as such
FFXIV has a very strong casino scene, for example. I actually used to deal a variant of blackjack based on the /roll system there (it goes 0-1000 so you have to be pretty creative with the numbers games). I made a lot of friends doing that and was regularly complimented for my writing and ability to maintain an even game flow while including all participants in the scene.
Creativity is a lot like nuclear power. It can be used for good or evil, and with great effect in each case.
I definitely wouldn't argue with excising the bad actors, like FFXIV does. However, they do so case-by-case. Groups there put on entire musical revues and 8-man band performances by breaking the ToS and using bots and outside macros -- in some cases, unauthorized launchers that allow the use of plugins directly.
So, as long as the redditor in question was honoring their losses and paying off with genuine coin instead of dupes or whatever, I'd argue it's a bad call to remove them. New World needs content and the expectation has been that the players have a hand in creating it.
As any North Korean animator can tell you (if they were allowed to anyway), it's really difficult to create under oppressive conditions.
Oh it wasn't me, it was a guy on reddit. I don't gamble in NW haha. I play slots and black jack, that's it and neither one is available in NW.
Every time it rolls stat/perks on an item that drops it's effectively gambling.
To create a game with so much based around a RNG and then ban gambling strikes me as blatantly hypocritical.
we see twitch gambling every day just one click away but if you gamble / roll in game you get perm banned? lmaooo
anyway the house makes the rules accept or quit.
im pretty sure some devs are ninja lurking in these steam threads and they must be facepalming themselves of what a game they created lmao.
atleast i hope they get paid well enough to withstand and endure the pain of constantly face palming :')
