A Few Tips for the Newbies
The quests are a lot of back and forth from town to location and back. Normally the further away the quest, the better rewards.. but this isn't always true. Fast travelling to and from a shrine is the easiest way to travel other than fast travelling to the inn you have set. Shrines are seen from a distance via a blue beam shining up into the sky. You will also be able to purchase a home once your Territory Reputation is high enough. This provides an additional fast travel point with a low reset cost.

Along the leveling route, make sure to rank up your faction reputation. It's the easiest way to get decent gear and will eventually lead you to acquiring commander gear, which is 525 GS, level 60 PvP gear. They are very expensive, but worth it. Best faction PvP quests that I've seen are the ones in Great Cleave. 2200 every 5 mins with a short travel distance. PvP quests have a default of 5 min cooldown, so it's a smooth rotation.

Tents are essential and provide a re-spawn point, but beware. If you die more than 500m from your tent, you cannot re-spawn at it.

Constitution is important. The higher in level you get, the harder the enemies will hit. Some enemies are even capable of killing you in 1-3 hits. A good rule to follow is to have at least 100 Con. Not saying its required, but it will help.

Gathering skills are very important to level up. They allow you to gather higher quality materials which also means more money from selling said materials on the market.

The territory bonuses are only applied to said territory (obviously). Increasing Territory Standing will provide more standing in that area, which means faster acquisition of housing and the bonus exp you receive for every Territory level you gain.

The heavier armor you wear, the less mobile your dodge is. You can check your weight through the inventory window at the top left. It will also state the bonuses you will have wearing that weight. (Dmg and Heal bonuses are currently nonexistent; bugged)

When dodging, the default cost is 50 stamina and you will have 100. It is better to dodge and wait for some stamina to regen than to use all your stamina and have to wait for a full stamina bar refill. You can't dodge during the full refill.

Flagging for PvP will make you an easy target for those much stronger than yourself. Flagging also provides a 10% exp boost, but at that risk.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. A lot of us are looking for something to do, especially the higher levels that run the same things over and over again. Some of us will be able to assist you. I know I would.

Don't be toxic. People who play a lot will remember your name and since most people communicate through discord, your toxicity will be known. Being friendly will get you places.

There's a lot more tips that can be added to this list because there are a lot of things to do. What I will say is.. take your time. The game will be more enjoyable if you enjoy it at a normal pace instead of trying to speed through to the end. In the game's current state, the end game is a grindfest between high level area chests and pvp.

Last but not least, have fun.

Best tip for now, wait some time before spending money on this game.

I agree!

I have to say, with only about 8 hours invested in the game, that this is one of the only MMO's I've actually enjoyed fishing in. It has elements that remind me of UO, especially after I fished up my first treasure chest in this game.

8 hours in, and I've spent half that time fishing, 2 more hours gathering and lumberjacking, and I feel no pressure at all to actually grind levels like I did in WoW.

As a middle aged person with a crappy job and bills to pay, having some casual game time after work is much needed, and this is one of the few, and newest games where taking my time seems to pay off.

Other games have some of those elements, but have been out for so long that the economies have tanked, people have min/maxed their characters and a new player stands virtually no chance. I like the fresh start appeal this game has for a player that has no interest in end-game content and just wants to enjoy the escape for a couple hours at the end of a work day!

Might be a good thread, but don't we have "guides" section? Pro tip: different types of regeneration food adds more to your regen per second - so if you'll eat light meal, some meal for logging, some meal for engineering and some meal for armorsmithing you'll gain like 300hp per second, not 100.

Second pro tip - join strong company and fight for your place. It's not a solo game, you'll need much more willpower and strong companies tolerance to do what you want without a company.

Third pro tip - don't buy anything, until you really know what you need. Gather cash, keep it for high lvl, it's really easy to lose money stupidly in this game and cash most of the time is your oxygen.

Fourth pro tip - Don't chop wood in Edengrove/Shattered Mountain. You'll know what I mean at certain lvl - these places will make your chopping a horror experience. In Brightwood there's lots of wood ;)

Ending my game at 200h, didn't do mission for 25 lvl - kill yourself at Amrine. So I don't have possibility to move further with story. Felt bad
