You can get fish oil like that. I mean at least 1 out of 750,000 tries you will get fish oil.

You can salvage them for parts. Usually ingredients for other other professions. Some you can leave whole. Each fish type will have a suggestion on what to do with it.

you can save tadpoles, medium and large salmon for town quests

save firm fillets for town quests too or sell on trading post, people real big on those for town quests

i keep the coloured fish salvage the greys. i just got a legendary fish for first time and i got lot of cool blue ones.

But colored Fish gives special crafting ressources....

Why keep them...? what do you do with them?
